I'm 1.5 million in Energy deficit, due to a fairly high population (444k), but then as pop = bucks, it means at Level 19 I'm getting 9.25M bucks per cycle . Just means I need to keep topping up Bliss every now and then so it doesn't cost me money.

I am at l20, have 459k pop and about even on energy, 10 million bucks a cycle. I also have about haft a million in bliss in my hoard.

Next level you'll get reactors.

At high levels, it takes a couple of cycles to recover from population gain (2-400K deficits).

I have one colony that was at -4M and is now under -2M deficit!

I'm still recovering from last 200k pop boost. Probably should have waited few cycles more, but I just kept getting them every cycle, so I decided to use bliss from upleveling for some good.
From -6.3 million my deficit is slowly gone to -5 million, even 5x L21 thorium surges won't dent it noticeably. Without occasional energy gifts improvement would be very slow. At least I have lots of bliss, got 2x300k last cycle.

Military: 2,359,098

No wonder the little guys are producing so well, I have more than 2 soldiers 'protecting' each one of them! *evil grin*

Energy is *the* limiting factor at higher levels. There are a few other options, like surging bliss like crazy and just letting the energy deficit grow, but mostly advancement is a matter of growing population & getting more valuable assets, and running a bit behind in energy, and surging bliss when you run a lot behind in energy.

There's a few people with *very* different approaches, but most of us are either surging population or allowing natural growth to happen, and then running to catch up with energy. At higher levels, the natural growth is often more than a full cycle's worth of energy to keep up.

Push to get to level 9 so you can get the thorium reactors, which help a lot.

Well i switched to authoritarian communist now hoping for megagifts from sys. The good income of an liberal sys doesn't help me atm.
All's eaten by bliss deficit.
I won't even touch blissgifts before i don't crawl out of the powerless stoneage again.

I already have two reactors and they give a bit more energy but they give population too so I don't make up any ground.

I was offline for two days and came back to -2.6 million energy deficit and almost no bliss. Needless to say, I will be surging bliss from now on, I can't see how I can possibly get back to the 100K energy surplus I was used to. (Accidentally surging 10K pop just before leaving didn't help either...)

An ansible at level 19 yelds 68K bliss so I won't have to surge that many to be bliss positive and hence get all the money I need.

-2.6M is a piece of cake. I came back from -4M w/o even a single cycle of negative bliss (if I was willing to sacrifice money, could have recovered faster) and without gifts or moving out of the 50/50 political range.

Switch to the -50/-50 party and you'll get lots of gifts each cycle (trash any tiny gifts and don't ask for anything or you'll cut off the mega-hoard gifts from the system, which is what you want). Use those to get out of the hole.
