Totally agree. I'm using the Firefox plugin GrabMyBook. The plugin very conveniently puts timestamps into the epub's filename, so they are automatically sorted perfectly. With this awful new "feature", all epubs now have the same title.

Hi, guys!
don't panic ...

here is a fragment of the plans for the next update w.r.t. that new feature:" ... We thought the best way would be to provide a setting, that can choose "title" or "file name" as the text of the three views. So, we are not adding a new view here. Just let the user to choose what to display in each view.

For metadata pre-fetching, we will provide a setting to toggle it too. For some users that copy files from PC to device and backward frequently, but only a few files involved, this setting would be good for users who careless for book title ...."

simple image-based (scribble) diary

Hello all, I have a bit off topic question but anyway:

Does anybody know about any diary utility where I could scrible my agenda? Idealy I would like to have a screen with 30 lines/ one for each day (see the attached image of a paper version) where I could write. The application would jump to current month at startup and joystick would control jumps to following months. That's all functionality required.
Now I am thinking just to prepare such images for each month in advance on PC and just edit them. Here I am just asking if something like this is not available.

When wrapped as an app this feature would really help me get rid of classical diary and allow use M92 as my universal device for all my agenda.

Many thanks for your answer.

Maybe you could generate a pdf file with such properties (a page per month). you could then simply load it and annotate .

por: thanks for reply. well this is a solution. However, then you have to enter the annotation mode and select sketch which is quite awkward.

Please use rss_reader now. Since the rss_reader is maintaning by the Onyx dev-team now instead of feed_reader.

Concerning *.S files - why do you need the assembler files (just out of sheer curiosity) ?
Sorry for the delay, but I moved and switched jobs - so I had to hand back my laptop and didn't have internet for a while (plus: my M92 just broke ).
I still have to set up a new toolchain - hopefully by next week... then I can check again...

Hi Kodomo.
It is sad to hear about your broken M92. But don't worry. Since you are so helpful here in forum we will fix it for free. Just contact me in our shop contact form.

I hope Onyx will improve tool selection interface. It is for long time on wishlist.

Also if multitasking is implemented, which is or at least has been planned, the 'pdf file with diary' method should work well. And everyone could choose diary of their taste.

You could try to ask PeterX who develops alternative scribling app for M92 to allow user to add a background file for each page (It would be nice to be able to have a user definable background anyway). Files with background would have a number at the end of fiel name. E.g. MyDiary2012_000.jpg, MyDiary2012_001.jpg. One for each page.

It would cover all your needs.

Hi everyone,

I am new to the device (and the forum, although I have been lurking around quite some time), so I do not know if I am simply doing things the wrong way, but there are some features I am missing and I did not find them here on the forums.

Is there a way to "link" sketches/scribbles the way annotations are linked to the text of, say, a pdf file? Reading a lot of technical texts and doing calculations while doing so, it would be perfect to have the possibility of doing some handwriting without having to write into the document itself.

I am thinking of something like this:
- having marked a portion of text, the device opens a "scribble"-page half the size of the M92's display (if the markings are on top of the page, it will open it un the bottom, otherwise on the top). That way, you could still see the text you marked, but have the ability to write something down (especially useful for solving equations in, say, a math textbook).
- Like in the "annotation" tool, a button would be needed to accept the scribble or to cancel the process
- In case the user wants to keep the scribbles/sketch, the device could associate the marked part of the text with the scribbles and show them if needed.

Another thing I would highly appreciate is the option to copy some are of a document into the scribbling application. Something like the two-point zoom to determine the area that has to be copied and the possibility of inserting this into a scribble document would do the trick.

These features, along with an eraser option built into the stylus and different shades of grey that can be used for writing, would be immensely useful and would probably allow the M92 to gain a lot of customers in the academic sector. Being able to write everything down in a lecture (with different "colours") and linking your (handwritten) work with textbooks is probably the main unfulfilled request with regard to ebook devices. Once these flaws are sorted out, I do not see any reason not to promote usage of those devices in higher education.

Is there anything that is already available and does this? Otherwise, please regard this post as a feature request.

Hey everyone,

I have download fonts and applications (saving them in a folder inside de SD card as Booxtor said) and it seems there is no change in my device. I do not find the chess application neither the fonts which I guess I should be able to change when reading a document.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you

Contacted you.

Btw.: Just to be clear - the 'crashes' were firmware crashes - not drops with a physically broken display

Cheers.

Nope - I agree that it would be useful, but it also sounds like a lot of implementation work (is there any PC software that allows you to do such a thing?)
I guess it won't hurt to put it on the wishlist, but wouldn't count on it getting implemented very soon. :P

Likewise - although you may hack something there by using the snapshot software to produce an image you could move into the note background folder to use it as a background of a note - and to export the result... (that's the way I'd work around this).

I somehow remember that someone announced to have a look at using the stylus buttons, but I'd have to look up who... but I honestly agree - I've been using the device to take notes these last days - and hardware buttons to switch between scribble-erase and different colors would really increase my efficiency there

Yes - I wholeheartedly agree! I've hacked some workaround for naboo (pdf reader), but it would be much better, if they offered different gray levels - I'd charge myself of adding color support for the pdf exports then.
(+ I also missed this feature dearly taking notes)

See above - there's a hack w.r.t. scribble colors in naboo, and I see an (awkward) workaround for the zoom-scribble idea.
Otherwise: unfortunately no

Please feel free to update the wishlist wiki, though

Cheers!

Booxtor:
Is it still planned to implement multitasking in M92? And if yes, when aproximately?

It would be nice, to be able to switch between open documents, scribble app and dictionary.

Also USB Host mode would be pleasant. Allowing to attach a keyboard or bluetooth dongle.

Hello friends,

I have this small but irritating issue. I had been using Coolreader as my epub reader and I like it very much. But after applying the new firmware update, the epubs show read count as 0 and do not come up in the recent documents list also. If I change reader to FB reader, then the read count is correct and the epub shows up in the recent documents list too. Booxtor, please note this and can this be fixed in the subsequent updates?

Hi Medva, this is what I do. I use a nice scribble background designed for agenda - 7 boxes for a week in one page. Then I scribble my agenda in each page, noting down the date. I've also got some daily agenda backgrounds, but this is the one I use. I have a display problem - seems a hardware problem, for which there is no answer from ONYX yet, so I use the scribble function very rarely. But I've got the backgrounds and things in place, hoping the issue will be fixed sometime

Regards,
RENUSHAN.
