I wish Macmillan would get on the ball. The first book in the "Sister Mary Helen" mystery series by Sister Carol Anne O'Marie is $11.99! I remember reading one because I saw the author on a talk show, and I liked it, but not enough to spend nearly 12 dollars to reread it.

I might have seen her on Dick Cavett. Here is a clip with Mickey Spillane where she is a fellow guest.

That is insanity. I guarantee you they’re not selling any at that price. It’s a 40-year old mystery! I wouldn’t spend that much on a current mystery. Ultimately, mysteries of this sort are both trifling and fungible. I’m not disparaging it, truly, just saying that there are a lot of mysteries of similar ilk out there for much, much less.

And I liked Sister Mary Helen more than Sister Joan, so I wish that Joffe books had the rights to that series too. (Although both pale in comparison to the historical Sister Fidelma, and Sister Frevisse, whom I adore...)

And totally agree on the price issue. I think $3.99 is too much for ooooooold backlist, and usually I even think $2.99 is too much. So $11.99 is way out of the question. I do have Sister Carol Anne O'Marie on my eReaderIQ list, but they never drop. In fact, I thought I remembered them going up, and when I spot checked a few just now, my memory was right - they went up from $7.99 to $11.99 a couple of years ago!!!

So, yes, I agree they are unlikely to be selling many (any) at this price...

And yes, if not fungible, close to it, although fun when I don't want to concentrate on anything.
