Finished "Death in the Stocks" during lunch this afternoon. Are all of her characters such twits?

Still it was a fun read and I didn't figure it out until the ending (OK.. i didn't figure it out at all.. )

I would compare the thickness of the part I had read to the unread part, and think, "yay! I've still got over half of the book left." Or, "oh, no! I'm so close to being finished. I'm not ready to finish it yet!" For some reason that just doesn't work as well with an e-book.)

I know I'm probably the last one here to read it, so I guess it goes without saying that it is really good. Really good.
I read it several times (I think), but it was so long ago, I think it may be time for a re-read. I'm a bit scared to try it though. My literary tastes have changed a lot since then.

Yes - her characters are upper class twits - with excellent vocabularies - right out of a Noel Coward play!
And the plots in each book are VERY different (rumor has it that her lawyer husband provided the plots while she created characters and tone!)

I've been reading mysteries for years - and most of her books stumped me too!

These were fun reads!

I know what you mean - but I've learned to look at the little progress bar at the bottom of the screen (or the % figure)!

I'm rereading "The Engine 2 Diet." It helps me remember the diet guidelines, and recipies I haven't tried yet.

Just started reading "Another Life" by Andrew Vachss, the 18th and final book in the "Burke" series.
I am a huge Vachss fan. No one writes noir like he does and Burke is the ultimate antihero. The realization that this is the end of the line is really making it difficult to read this book.
I highly recommend the entire "Burke" series to anyone who wants to visit the mean streets of New York and support the war against the ultimate evil.

I'm loving the classics courtesy of B&N. Currently enjoying “Dracula” by Bram Stoker. One prevailing analysis of the story is that good ol’ Bram wanted to write about a forbidden topic, and Dracula is a story filled with scenes of that forbidden topic, thinly veiled by the presence of vampires.
Today, we have the freedom top discuss such things without having to conform to Victorian social mores. Today, assuming children of tender years are not present, we can openly and unashamedly discuss Nascar.

I just finished Dune. Please give me some opinions... should I read more of the series, or will it diminish the pleasure I felt in this one?

Meanwhile, I'm getting back to The Long Goodbye. I'm about halfway through it, but I'm not having any trouble putting it aside to read other things.
