No more support for kindle dx Graphite ? Too Bad - Page 4

damn straight. we bought DXG for pdf's. they should bring the firmware in line with the K3.
seems like they have no intention of doing it now after this last 'update'.
hopefully we all are sending emails to amazon complaining....right?

I think that one should not buy a device based on what it might do in the future. Do some research and if it does not meet your needs today do not buy it. Might save some aggravation later.

Honestly, the way they are ignoring the customers is disgusting..
Atleast they could answer a bit more than the generic reply message..

Shame on Amazon for handling it this poorly, I have to say. Either say no 3.0 for DXG, or gives us a date. To completely ignore any questions regarding PDF support as on Kindle 3 is beyond me.

Anyway, I'm done with waiting, my DXG is going on ebay over the weekend. It will be a long time before I trust Amazon again with any product again.

I have K2 only, not DX/DXG but I think the Amazon is really not promoting DXs as a PDF readers, as Amazon doesn't sell any PDF ebook - thus they don't supports Adobe Digital Editions nor other PDF DRMs. Sad but true. If you want better A4 PDF support - go get other 9.7" eInk reader - there are many at the market and they do cost more than 379$ - too sad but true. Or use unsupported by Amazon firmwares like the Duokan's.

Why you guys doesn't complain at Apple for not supporting Flash in the iPhones? (oh, you do complain but who hears you)

Then how do you explain the enhanced PDF capabilities of the K3. If Amazon weren't intending to sell a PDF reader why did they make it better.

Amazon supports PDF. The fact is that you don't like the level of this support. Does it show PDFs? - It shows! Period!

What reasoning of Apple for missing Flash? I want Flash, not reasoning... You want same, you want better PDF, you want Adobe DE, you want library DRM. Buy other e-reader or convert PDF or strip the DRM (oh, that is illegal...).

Sorry for being so sceptical! Usually I am very positive, excuse me!

What are you disgusted about, exactly? When you bought your Kindle DX, did Amazon promise you that it would support PDF annotation? Does it do less now than it does when you bought it? Are Amazon under some sort of obligation to you to provide you with additional features?

All I get from Amazon when I ask about Kindle DX lack of PDF features is the statement to the effect of "At this time, we don't support..." and then a not so helpful summary Kindle 3's features.

Since Amazon has established a habit of continually adding features and functions to Kindle, the "at this time" makes it sound like PDF enhancements are in the works. If Amazon would say "We have no plans to..." then the issue would be closed.

c'mon dude the device costs nearly $400 and these are SIMPLE software changes? why are you defending lazy customer service?

if you have no interest in the improved PDF functionality of the DX series why are you even posting in this thread?

one thing apple have done well, even with vastly different ipod skews, is try to keep everyone happy with the latest features during firmware updates. amazon by comparison are failing miserably in this regard.

no reasonable person ever expected apple to support flash on their iOS devices and furthermore they have always stated that they will NOT support it EVER.
i spent $400 on my DXG and I have (had) a reasonable expectation that the firmware would be upgraded to at least be in line with K3.

like someone else here said, I don't know what you are defending...
abandoning customers (high-end ones at that) that just bought DXG's?

I think you did not research well when you bought one. Do you buy electronic devices based on the assumption of soon to be released firmware upgrades or patches?

On my case, I read a lot of technical books, SQL, and I do need a big screen for those or they will loose format; tried that with Nook 1st generation and was one of the reason why I sold, besides B&N does not have a good computer's book selection.

I don't use my DXG for PDFs only, mainly for computer books, but I do not think there is a better eink option for PDFs right now.

Now, I would be more than happy with a firmware upgrade but I did not based my purchase with the assumption or getting one pretty soon. What I really did was checking the product "as is" and with the features they currently have.
