The Kindle has certainly created some stir! I would be willing to bet that most of you complaining, normally are a little more acceptant of normal shipping times. It's not going to kill you if your Kindle doesn't come until Monday. And calling customer support and ranting isn't making you any friends either. Hang in there, they will come!

I don't think anyone's going to flame you... It just really pisses me off that I paid for next day shipping so I could get it today. It may not even come tomorrow! It still hasn't changed from "shipping soon". No delivery estimate either.

No flames, and of course it will come, but I've come to trust that when Amazon says I'll get something on release day it'll come on release day. Looks like this time it won't happen so I think s it's fine to be a bit disappointed. Nobody said anything about calling and ranting. All I did was send a quick email letting them know I was disappointed that they weren't meeting their promise.

Nah, not gonna flame you, but honestly my goal isn't t make any friends with the folks at amazon. Nor is it to make enemies. But is it really too much to ask, for me to expect them to deliver as promised?
1) I ordered it via 2-day shipping
2) I was promised that if I did this, I'd receive "Release-Date Delivery"

Instead, my item ships ON release day, and via GROUND.

You're absolutely right, it's not gonna kill me, but it's enough to already leave a bad taste in my mouth, and I told them as much in the email i sent. I'd rather see a company under-promise and over-deliver, than break even the simplest, most apparently-inconsequential promise. As they say, it's the little things that make a difference.

Furthermore, isn't Bezos' mantra / mission statement that he wants Amazon to be the world's most customer-centric company? Based on this, i feel no problem registering my complaint. I wasn't a jerk about it to them, I said I understand mistakes happen, but I did express my disappointment in a respectful, cordial manner.

Just my $.02...keep the change

eta: mine shows as shipping from phoenix, AZ, in my amazon account, but when i track at UPS, it still just shows "billing information received" it was actually the amazon email that estimated the 30th delivery date. I think I will get it tomorrow based on our proximity. Here's hoping!

So I just got the shipping notification and it looks like it's coming UPS from Fernley, Nevada and is supposed to be delivered tomorrow! *happy dance* So I wouldn't be surprised if that's where the West Coast, or at least California, orders are coming from. My cover shipped separately via FedEx out of one of the Kentucky centers.

I just edited it in above, but in my amazon account, when I click to track it via their dashboard, it says mine came from Phoenix, AZ. Must have different DC's all through the country. (i.e. most than just a west coast and an east-coast center)

No fire required. It's just that when Amazon offers something for sale and then doesn't deliver it, they don't normally go to dubious interpretations of the terms of the offer, they just give you your money back.

I'll try Anemic Oak's idea of writing them. It might be there are a lot of new guys on the phones rather than a change in Amazon's policies. This is my first experience with Kindle you see and I don't know what to expect.

It shipped!!! I should receive it tomorrow, but I did email CS to see if I could get a refund on the shipping because I expected it to be here today, not tomorrow. Will post later to see if I get refunded.
