Thank you

My BB charger states output of 5v at 700mA. My Kindle DXG charger states 4.9v at 850mA. So the BB charger should work but at a slightly slower speed than the K charger.

From the K3 page at Amazon.com:

Charge Via USB
Kindle ships with a U.S. power adapter and a micro-USB cable for charging your Kindle from a computer USB port. The U.S. power adapter supports voltages 100V-240V.
My KDXG came with cable and a wall plug that accepts the standard USB cable. It looks like the K3 will too. I'd return that charger and save some money, unless of course you need a non-US charger.

Does your charger look like the one I show in the attachment?

Yip, my K2 charger looks the same as that. I ordered the additional one (EU version) because I wanted one I could use in South Africa without an adapter

My BB charger is also 5V at 700mA. My K2 charger says 4.9V at 850mA.
Like you said, should work, just a little slower though (theoretically). Any takers who want to try it?

Yep, mine is 4.9v too. I typed it wrong in my post, but I'll fix it.

I use a Blackberry charger at work to charge my Kindle (K2i) all the time. Never had a problem.

It's funny, but, the power cable for my K1 also works with my old Palm Zire, and the Kindle USB cable also works with my HTC Touch Pro 2 phone, even charges it.

Just as an FYI to the general public, I ordered mine today, and had to contact customer service since I got charged for the "free 2-day shipping" promotion -- turns out it is because I live in Alaska -- and after contacting them I was given an estimated ship date of October 4th, 2010.

So if that date is real and they aren't just playing it safe, it seems all orders from this point on are going to be shipping well into Oct. Not that I'm complaining, but it just goes to show how fast these things must be getting pre-ordered.

But now they'll look like heroes when you get it in September

There are two simple solutions to using the standard US wall socket adapter for the the provided USB cable.

Many houses has a specialized razor socket in the bathroom, looks something like
o-- --o
and that will work fine with the US prongs.

The other is to get a simple plug-adapter (a 20 cent item) having the square holes in the back and the circular prongs in the front. That is what I used with my K2i.

I am thinking of preordering one, however what if I dont like it and want to send it back? Will that be so easy and hasslefree outside of the US? Especially as I want to order a cover for it too and that would probably be shipped earlier.

More often than not I use my BB charger to charge my DX. Works fine.

On the K2i I just got, I've been using my HTC Touch Pro 2 charger which outputs 5v 1A to a female USB plug. I just use a microUSB on it instead of a miniUSB cable (the kind my phone uses). Though the power supply can provide "up to" 1 amp, the device will only draw what it needs. You can do higher amps, but it can potentially be a bad idea to do lower, if you put the device in a situation where it's trying to draw more power than the power supply can provide.
