You don't have "freedom of speech" on a forum. There's nothing to "exercise". If the admins want, they can delete anything you say.

Sure they do, what makes you think they don't get to decide what they publish/broadcast?

The only time the FCC can step in is if it's done over public airwaves. That's not private property though.

Unfortunately, it's fairly common that people don't really understand the first amendment.

Unfortunately for this statement you just made there, not everybody lives in the USA. Some of those amendments you talk about scare three kinds of hell out of me (right to bear arms?).

99.45 per cent of iPhone 4 owners have NOT called AppleCare with any perceived "antenna / reception" problems. Doesn't that tell you something about this "widespread, monumental" problem?

Now PC World says the iPhone 4 should be taken off the market - "The iPhone 4 is now tainted in the consumer's [sic] eyes." Well, not only should PC World learn to properly spell and punctuate, but maybe we should think of THEM as "tainted" from now on.

That .55% was HTC Eris. For Apple it was around 20%.

You are 100% WRONG. Please read the Apple news conference transcript.

You mixed up the Apple conference and HTC's reply. HTC corrected Apple's mistakes -- or should I say smokescreen?

HANSTWN>> ... You mixed up the Apple conference and HTC's reply ...

I mixed up NOTHING. You did not monitor the session LIVE, nor have you read Apple's transcript nor watch the video of the event.

Why are you misrepresenting what occurred last week? And when you find out what actually occurred, are you going to go to all the sites you misreported the truth and correct yourself?

It was clear during Friday’s press conference that the company believes the iPhone 4 reception issues have been overblown. According to Jobs, only 0.55 percent of all iPhone customers have called the company’s AppleCare service with an antenna issue. (The company did not provide figures on the percentage of iPhone customers who sought out help from the Genius Bar service at Apple’s retail outlets.) Jobs also noted that the AT&T’s return rate for the iPhone 4 was 1.7 percent, compared to 6 percent for the iPhone 3GS during the same period a year ago. Jobs did concede that AT&T’s figures indicate the iPhone 4 drops more calls per 100 calls than the iPhone 3GS does, but he noted that the 3GS drops fewer than 1 call per 100.

“The data leads you to the conclusion that it’s been so blown out of proportion, it’s incredible,” Jobs said.

Well, Public Radio had a reporter call her editor and every time she gripped her iPhone 4, the call dropped. Like clockwork.

Jobs can spin it anyway he wants to, but the reality is that Apple wouldn't be offering free cases if there was not a problem.

I am sure Apple will tweak the hardware to retain the gorgeous design and make this issue go away. Because the iPhone 4 is the best designed phone on the market.

Slapping an aftermarket case on it would be kind of like putting a burka on it.

On the other hand, I was so sick of Steve Jobs' BS about the limitations of the iOS, I just replaced my iPhone 3Gs with the Samsung Galaxy S. The 4" the Super AMOLED screen is head and shoulders above everything else out there, IMO.

And I can get the full web experience, including full Flash.

Yeah, control is really a large part of what Apple sells. It's a feature, and I don't mean that sarcastically. I'm not sure why Microsoft has ever been regarded as "evil." It is simply mediocre.

Apple started moving away from "cute" right after the original iMacs. I think what they are going for these days is "Ferrari."

Apple is still O.K as far as their desktop hardware (except for being too cheap to include cables so that your brand new Apple monitor can work with your six months old Mac Book Pro).

But the iOS environment is right out of 1984.

As far it being Ferrari, the iPhone and the iPad are probably a bit more reliable, but require you to use only Apple gas, from Apple stations, and Apple can remotely kill your engine, if you dare to add an aftermarket stereo.

Oh, and your car refuses to drive on any streets starting with the letter "F".

Not 20% complained, 20% seemed to experience reception problems due to the antenna issues.
