Actually, the Cybook Gen3 is 9 mm thick, while the Kobo is 10 mm thick - but you are right -- that millimeter, and perhaps the squared up edges, make the Kobo much more comfortable to hold. It doesn't feel nearly as flimsy and fragile as the Gen3. But I'm not convinced the 'quilted' back makes much difference. The BeBook is also 10 mm thick, with 'industrially' squared off edges, and I find it quite easy to hold.
