Tip: let your family check it and even turn it on to see if all is ok. I know it's fun to be the first to open it but it can save you a lot of trouble. I asked the same to my friend.

i've just placed my order on amazon .
estimated shpping date 5-12 october (i am not optimistic , i don't think that they will have it in stock by that time , but i don't have any alternative choice ) .

and then used this service SHOP AND SHIP

they will provide u with an address in the u.s and then they will ship the items to the country where u live ( currently only switzerland , greece , turkey , cyprus and middle eastern countries )

yesterday it was

In light of this uncertainty, we will understand if you would prefer
to cancel your order. As of yet we have made no changes.

I think that's a form letter, I've gotten more or less the same message for other things. Unfortuately, that doesn't help clarify what they mean.

It looks as though amazon have now withdrawn it from their site. I found it yesterday and have just set up a shipping address in the US to place my order and now it's disappeared.
Has anyone heard of any other secondary retailers selling it yet?

i've just contacted abtelectronics.com and they said that they don't have them in stock and they don't know when they will have them .

I have just contacted abtelectronics.com and they don't ship outside the US. If anyone finds a supplier who will ship to the UK, please let me know. I know there are lots of us desperate to find a supplier so i'll keep my fingers crossed!!

The Shop and Ship service looks interesting but they are doing what Sony and other companies do; restricting their market. They only offer their service to a few countries, which is stupid. Does anyone know of another service based in the States that offers international shipping and American online MasterCard credit card purchases?

If they release it to Canada, that would be fine as I have a Canadian credit card but the whole thing still bugs me.

I'm trying to set up a shipping address in the US so that i can get hold of the Sony Reader, but I'm pretty new to this. Does anyone know of the company US Global Mail? They say they'll set up an address for me, but as i've never heard of them I'm alittle unsure. Alternativly can anyone reccommend a company that will set an address up for me and deliver to the UK?
I'd appreciate some advice.

Right now I think the best choice is MyUS
Rates are not that bad and they ship worldwide.
bad news is there is a monthly fee.

I you want to avoid the fee try USA2ME ;-)

They even pay for your reader charging only $10.(that is for MyUS).
For USA2Me it's 10%...still worth it

I think it's great.
