When considering covers with different thickness or shape, remember that you will have to remove them before connecting to your computer if you use the Reader docking station.

I'm also a bit leery of this "spandex" design as it doesn't appear to offer much impact protection to the display.

As for the connection, it's a simple mini USB plug, it's 1 1/2" from the corner, and 1 5/8" from the edge (due to the curve). Sorry for the non-metric measurements, but I only have have an imperial ruler handy. ![]() I'd think that if you put in some sort of flap/door slider in that general area it'd work nicely. But having seen the high quality of your work on your website, I expect you'll want to wait until you can take your own measurements. ![]() |

![]() Putting a tiny flap on the box is out of the question. You got to remember that working wood is a subtractive process compared to plastics or certain metals that use molding or additive processes. ![]() Also if the port is at the bottom of the device I might forgo the idea because this is where the lighting's batteries will go. |

Yah, USB's on the bottom edge, yvanleterrible. I've been carrying mine around in a hollowed-out book (as camoflage against idle pilferage) and I don't miss access to the ports.
![]() I don't really connect it to the PC that often, in the first place, so having to take it out of a box or cover wouldn't be any real burden to me, so long as it's not difficult to take it out. ![]() You can see the ports in the pix I attached to my review -- no good for measurements, of course, but you can get an idea of the placements from them. ![]() |

That's a good point NatCh... I think of a different size case being a problem wrt the cradle because I'm thinking about the circular snap thing, which is not really something you want to remove everytime you dock. When you don't need to remove the cover, that snap thing is great.
But if there was a nice case didn't require that snap circle and was easy to remove, I'd definitely be open to that as an option. But it's hard to imagine one in a different form factor that's just as nice for actual reading. The Sony case is really comfortable and slim and easy to fold back. |

Yeah, I really like the default Sony case. Most things like this you get a case for it is low budget and you want to replace it right away - I haven't felt that at all with the Sony case. It has a nice feel, seems sturdy, good weight to it and doesn't add a lot of thickness. Looks good too in my opinion.

According to a friend who is a fiber expert, the standard case is microfiber with leather (leatheret) trim. As for me, I'll stay with it for the near future.

I got the green one (matches the green case for my Zen Vision VGA) I wish they would make an orange one though. I love orange (BRIGHT ORANGE :-)
