still have to test with other containers, but for the moment i have the following symptoms:
Flipping pages with the flip-bar in said container works.
Using stylus and page-indicator = HTML-viewer closes and i go back to the directory where i opened the container.

I say you, flipping through 600+ pages with the flip-bar= no fun.

edit:
One interesting detail, if i set the last-read page manually to 689 by editing the XML-file, the iLiad opens page 89. Something is going seriously wrong here.

edit2:
Oops, should have looked on the number in the page itself. After clicking to page 100 with the flip-bar, the page-bar resets to 1, but I am at page 101. I am pretty sure this is not caused by my document.
For me that looks like the HTML-Viewer doesn't like containers with more than 100 pages.

edit3: now its gonna drive me nuts. Tried 2 other comics, same setup, no one of them shows this problems. But i have to say those are not as long as the comic in question (one is 297 pages, one 116, whereas the problematic comic is 689 pages). I added the manifest.xml as attachment. Maybe i have a bug there, but i doubt it.

File Type: xml manifest.xml (28.9 KB, 523 views)

I wanna downgrade to 2.5 again.

Hyperlinking in pdf viewer doesn't work anymore.
Can somebody verify this? On my iLiad it isn't working since 2.6.

This hyperlinking was a feature which was implemented in 2.4 already. And know - navigating in pdf files is impossible.
Sorry, but what a crap. I try not to get angry. Ohhhmmmm.

@ Irex: How did this happen?

found at irexnet.com forum:

Well, I can't understand this. What does he mean? "Hard to hit". It is impossible to use hyperlinks for me.

@yokos:

i believe they removed hyperlinks in pdfs altogether because they allowed to start external applications.

hyperlink problem is on iRex's fix-it-list now.
I posted this bug in official irex forum.

Maybe they fscked up the visible vs. the sensitive dimensions of a hyperlink? EG: if a hyperlink would only consist of a line of single pixel thickness and if only touching this line exactly would trigger the hyperlink the hyperlink would be "hard to hit".

But I have no Iliad to test this interpretation.

Computer USB connection issues

Is anyone having issues to mount the iLiad as an external USB device on their computers (using the travel adaptor) after the upgrade to 2.6?

I am connecting mine to my mac. Before the upgrade to 2.6, it worked with no problems. Now, it shows up in the list of connected USB devices, but I doesn't mount (and the screen on the iLiad doesn't change either).

Has anyone had a problem with a very large .pdf file? I was trying the Popular Science free digital trial (32 Meg or so)and got hung at page 50. Tried to load page 51 but could not. Closed file & went back to it, closed, shut down & rebooted, but still could not get past page 50. Any ideas?

I had the same problem with the User Manual for 2.6. It hangs on page 17 (or 18?)

Same problem with me for the Manual 2.6.

BTW, the large PDF files seem fine in my iLiad, they are all above 50 megabytes with hundreds of pages.

its definately a new waveform. i noticed a better contrast then in 2.5, but still worse than 2.4 and ghosting is a really bad issue with this waveform.

i just finished my first book on v2.6 and ghosting wasn't really apparent. But this higher speed is nice.

1. The Mac's USB automounter will get confused sometimes and need a reboot to recover normal mounting of FAT filesystem devices. This issue is not specific to the iLiad but to the Mac in general.

2. After the upgrade to 2.6 the Mac will auto-remount the iLiad after you eject it. The work around is to unplug it immediately, but this can cause trouble since if you are too late you will leave an "iLiad" directory in /Volumes that you have to remove via Terminal.

Other than that, it works fine.

Battery, keyboard, delete icons

Has anyone noticed that, sometimes, when you boot up the iLiad, the keyboard, battery and delete icons are missing?

I noticed this in 2.5, but it rarely happened (say, one in 50 reboots), but it seems to be happening more frequently in the 2.6 version.

A reboot corrects it, but still...
