Yes it can, but only if the ePub reading software supports it. There is unfortunately no guarantee that the reading system supports font embedding or line spacing. Even if the reading system would implement the complete ePub specification you won't have control over some important styles (word-spacing and letter-spacing for example).

You can do stuff like that in Adobe PDFs by embedding fonts, which makes the PDF larger but preserve the original font for the viewer.

ePub is a bit trickier - see http://www.idpf.org/doc_library/info...glingSpec.html for a discussion of the issues.

And I still suspect there will be devices that can display ePub that won't be able to display the embedded fonts, even if present.

I believe the ePub specification presumes graceful degradation -- that the device will simply ignore things it can't do, and not throw an error or fail to display the book.

It would be nice if they did inform you. They have your contact info, but apparently don't have the infrastructure in place to track fixes and send a note to the original reporter.

This is what happened with The Front (I waited about a week I think and re-downloaded it):

Thank you for writing to report a typographical error in The Front by Patricia Cromwell. This problem has been corrected. You can receive a corrected version of the book by deleting the copy from your Kindle and downloading it again from Content Manger.

TO START A DOWNLOAD FROM KINDLE:
1. Move the Wireless switch to the ON position.
2. If you are not already on the Home screen, press the Home key.
3. Select "Content Manager" from the Home screen menu.
4. Select "Show and Sort" at the top of the screen and choose "Show All" from the menu.
4. Use the select wheel to choose items from the list. Items located in Your Media Library will display an "Amazon" icon below the title.
5. Choose "Move to Kindle Memory" from the Content Manager menu.

TO START A DOWNLOAD FROM YOUR MEDIA LIBRARY ON AMAZON.COM:
1. Visit Your Media Library on Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/gp/library).
2. Locate the desired title on the Downloads tab.
3. Click the button to the right of the title that lists the desired download location.

- "Send wirelessly to Kindle" places the item in your download queue so the item is delivered the next time you turn on your Kindle and activate the wireless feature.
- "Download to computer" saves the file to your computer so you can transfer it to your Kindle using the USB connection.

I reported a problem recently with Let the Right One In, in that case I was given a refund, the book was removed by Amazon from my Manage Your Kindle Page and my Kindle. I purchased another version of it with the refund (different version than the original).
