Hi Gogolo,
Did you enable the feature in the Settings? There is an extra item to configure the Recent Files settings. If you enabled it, check the dr1000.ini file for the following line: /apps/er/sys/ctb/recentfiles Which value does it have? |

Settings!! Thank you very much. Runs very nice and is a huge improvement for the DR1000!!
Maybe you could add a readme in the archive? Maybe helpful for others ;-) |

Update V1.4
I created an extra update for the Recent Files patch for the DR1000. The following functionality was added:
- Possibility to remove items from the Recent Files folder if it exceeds a certain limit (one page, two pages). See Settings->Recent Files->Automatic Removal Options. - Restoring files after USB connect/disconnect. See Settings->Recent Files->Card Removal Options (item was disabled and is now enabled). - Open ALL documents. See Settings->Recent Files->Document Startup Options (item was disabled and is now enabled). Before you try: THIS ONLY WORKS FOR THE DR1000! (do not try to use this for the DR800!!!) THIS PATCH MODIFIES THE FIRMWARE (replaces 'ctb', 'popupmenu' and 'settings') SO APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK. ONLY USE FOR VERSION 1.7/1.7.1 OF THE FIRMWARE. The posted version is used by several people already, they have not found disturbing problems, but still you should be aware that you are modifying your firmware. Also note that the patches are applied the original versions of the R1.7/R1.7.1 firmware so DO NOT USE when you have another firmware installed!!! (Nor for the DR800.) If something went really wrong, I have no reason to believe that you would not be able to fix it with a firmware re-install. Installation: The attached zip file should be unzipped on your SD-card. It will add 2 short-cuts in Home->Documents->Programs->Install: Apply Recent Files Patch v1.4 and Restore Recent Files Patch v1.4. One to install and one to un-install the patch. The install and uninstall will do a reset of the DR1000, so do not worry when this happens. Quick Start: Go to Settings->Recent Files to enable the functionality provided by this patch. Known Problems/Limitations: - Be aware when using the 'Open all Documents Active on Shutdown' it will take a lot of time to open all documents when restarting. Same for Card Removal Options. - Only files that are opened from the 'folder view' are added. So if you open a new document in FBReader or xournal, these are NOT added in the Recent-Files folder. - Only files that show up in the popupmenu can be restarted after a power-up!. So all the native formats (pdf, txt, etc) and xournal documents can be restarted. But FBReader, midori, evince documents will NOT be restarted. - Note that 'active documents' means that the document should still be opened and visbile when you shutdown the DR using the menu. Please let me know what you think of it (bugs, improvements, other questions, ...) |

Hi Mackx
First of all, thank you very much for this great patch. I have tried version 1.4 and find something strange. The recent file feature itself works perfect. But after I activate this feature, my file list view become aligned to the right. I have never installed the patch (aligned to the right). I wonder if you mixed these 2 patches unconsciously? Well ... that might be difficult I have been hacking a lot more in the code, and I am not using any source revision control program ...
I will check how to solve this in the next release. |

Dear Mackx,
Recently used files works fine. I agree with the right alignment "feature", but I will be even more happy without it. Thank you. Regards |

shouzhifenxi, jbbebg,
I currently have a V1.5pre that I am still testing myself (I not even send it to the 'guinea pigs'). It adds: - new 'name-view' (next to current icon- and list-view), only showing the name of the files. (is not yet restored after power-up) - Show 'titles' of files (as stored in metadata.db) instead of the file name. (Does not yet work in the 'pathbar'.) - A rename-feature to change the 'titles' of file. (See also previous item.) - Ask if short-cut should be deleted when it is not pointing to a file - Ellipses to the right again ![]() - Updated Russian translation If the left-ellipses are reducing your productivity send me a PM with your e-mail address, so I can add you to my 'guinea pig'-list for this release. |

FBReader for Recent Files
Currently FBReader is not fully supported by the recent files patch. Files are added in the Recent-folder, but they do not open automatically when powering up. As I explained before, only applications that show-up in the popupmenu/taskbar can be restarted after a power-up. Therefore I modified FBReader to add itself to the popupmenu/taskbar.
I split the installation files in two. One part contains the modified program (_fbreader) and the other the user-configuration files (.FBReader). So if you already have FBReader 0.10.2 installed, then you only need the bin-part. (You can rename the previous _fbreader-folder if you want to keep a copy.) If you have never installed FBReader, then also install the cfg-part. Even if you are not using the Recent Files patch, this might be usefull, since this FBReader is added to the taskbar, you can now switch between documents. PS: I could not find the source code for 0.10.2 anymore, so I use the 0.10.7. I also tried a newer version 0.12.2, but I was not sure what to change to the progam-configuration files (_fbreader\share\FBReader\default) to get it working as well as 0.10.2 (like largeScrollForward). |

Update V1.5pre
I created a new update for the Recent Files patch, since (end of) April is rappidly coming, I post this version directly here, without first being tested by the 'guinea pigs'. To give all a chance to have a look.
This versions adds: - new 'name-view' (next to current icon- and list-view), only showing the name of the files. (is not yet restored after power-up) - Show 'titles' of files (as stored in metadata.db) instead of the file name. (The new name is not shown in the PathBar, that would mean changing too much code) - A rename-feature to change the 'titles' of file. (See also previous item.) - Ask if short-cut should be deleted when it is not pointing to a file - Ellipses to the right again - Updated Russian translation Before you try: THIS ONLY WORKS FOR THE DR1000! (do not try to use this for the DR800!!!) THIS PATCH MODIFIES THE FIRMWARE (replaces 'ctb', 'popupmenu' and 'settings') SO APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK. ONLY USE FOR VERSION 1.7/1.7.1 OF THE FIRMWARE. This version has been tested less then the previous ones! Installation: The attached zip file should be unzipped on your SD-card. It will add 2 short-cuts in Home->Documents->Programs->Install: Apply Recent Files Patch v1.5pre and Restore Recent Files Patch v1.5pre. (The FBReader version from post #58 above, will be restarted.) - Note that 'active documents' means that the document should still be opened and visbile when you shutdown the DR using the menu. - Nameview not restored after power-up - Name in the pathbar is still the filename - The rename dialog is not translated. Please let me know what you think of it (bugs, improvements, other questions, ...) |
