Don't know if it's true and don't care.

Don't know if it's caused by man and don't care.

All I can do about it is what I can do and I do everything I can.

So I'm not going to do the one thing that wont make a lick spit of difference and that is argue about it on the internet!

And that’s all I’m going to say about that, because I have no desire to waste my time trying to convince the unconvincible.

So much for the tolerance of others idea that liberals like to claim. Of course they mean they are tolerant as long as you believe and do what you are told.

As for your arrogance, it is misplaced. Many of the people that you look down on are very smart, educated, and are very successful in life.

As for the science, it is not proven at this time what the extent of global warming will be in the future. None of the scientific models have been shown to have anything close to accuracy. IF the scientist really had the answers that you think they do, the models would be accurate.

Further, there is a large number of scientist that believe that the global warming we have experienced is due almost entirely to other causes. A major part of that is the amount of sun spots.

Finally, the recent release of a number of emails from scientist have shown that they worked to magnify the case for global warming. They have also done everything they can to blame man for the warming we have seen. This is partly by massaging the data to show things the way they want it to be seen. They have also worked to hide the decline in temperatures where this has occurred. They have even worked to ostracise other scientist who disagree with them and keep their work out of scientific journals.

So you go ahead and feel great that you have read scientific articles that have been submitted by scientists who committed fraud.

Bingo! You are today's winner!' And what do you win? More of the same.

Congratulations.

By my calculations, 0.000001% minds have been changed by political topics on MobileRead. And I would never want that changed.

I just post on political topics here to practice my typing skills.

And experiment on the effects of my blood pressure..

P.S. I am also keeping a list of dissidents to send to the future "not supportive of the nazi-socialist-global warming-peace monger" re-education camps.

Just ask Glenn Beck. He is the Nostra-dumbass of the Fox News illiterate generation.

Increase in carbon released into the atmosphere appears to correlate to the increase in temperature. Looking at the vetted science easily demonstrates this. Looking at the IPCC data shows sea level rises and other environmental changes that should be of great concern to any rational person.

Unfortunately many human beings are not rational, rely on misinformation picked up from news networks or simply hate/fear science. Some people who are deeply religious would in fact embrace the end of days, so to them global warming isn't something to fear. Some people have been mislead by their political leaders who also hated science (eg. George W Bush who let corporate lobbyists modify scientific documents).

So the science has to battle a wave of misinformation, ignorance and FUD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fear,_u...inty_and_doubt) before we can act on it.

The global warming skeptics say they aren't being listened to, but all they need to do is publish their articles refuting global warming theory in a peer reviewed journal. The problem is, because they don't have the science to back up their skepticism they don't get published. They continue to remain on the fringe, spreading FUD without any valid peer reviewed scientific hypothesis.

So instead of listening to the scientific community, who actually study this stuff for a living, we have a large part of the population who prefer to listen to a: tiny number of scientists who can't prove their alternate theories in peer reviewed academic circles, conservative weathermen, conservative talking heads like o'relliy/beck/hannity and the oil and gas lobby.

People are turning it into a political issue, but really it's science vs ignorance. The science is very well documented and has been around for a few decades. If people placed as much weight on what scientists say as they did Fox news talking heads the world would be a better place.

Come on Nate, really you don't believe ANY of the science?
http://www.skepticalscience.com/empi...al-warming.htm
http://www.skepticalscience.com/argument.php
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming
http://www.ipcc.ch/

Plenty of peer reviewed scientific data which shows glaciers melting, sea levels rising, sea temperature rising, carbon rising.

There are many scientist who disagree with you. A large part of why there are not articles being published that refute the theory of man causing global warming is that there has been a tremendous effort to censor anyone who disagrees with the established point of view.

As far as it being a case of science vs ignorance, I think you are buying into the hype because you don't understand the science yourself. It makes you feel good to insult those who disagree with you. Good luck with that approach.

Only to a certain degree. Looking at each of those things has more to do with rainfall than temperature. While temperature does affect the rainfall, it is not the only thing so the idea that we can accurately tell how much the world has warmed by those things is false.

The total estimated global warming warming since we began monitoring the temperature in 1850 has been a grand total of 0.76 C. Not even one degree. To say that we can measure that small an amount of temperature change in a tree ring is just not believable.

Uh... Bullshit?
Back up that claim with verifiable facts.

Please.

I ask politely.

Global Warming? No
The need for more Green lifestyles and societies? Yes
Agreed. Keep in mind that it wasn't too long ago that they were crying out that we had to take drastic action to avoid a new ice age.

Keep in mind that the entire 159 year period that began in 1850, we have only had an increase in temperature of 0.76 C. Also, that none of the climatic models predicting global warming have shown accuracy.

The facts are we know that the world has warmed 0.76 C in the last 159 years. We also know that the earth has always had considerable variations in temperature. We know that the sun plays a large part in the climate. We know that the CO2 that everyone is over reacting to is one of the least important greenhouse gases. Some of them are many times more effective as a greenhouse gas.

Other than that we know very little. So for anyone to say that this is mainly caused by man is to show that you are just as ignorant of the science behind the issue as those that they look down on. They argue based on a belief that has not been shown to be true anymore than the people who believe in God. The only difference is the person who believes in God is less likely to be as smug and condescending.
