Of course I don't think MR's bias is hidden in any way so I'd say it's pretty honest, despite the quote above
I think it depends on what info you're looking for. If you're trying to decide between treebooks & ebooks then I agree-MR is definitely biased in favor of ebooks, and openly so. But the OP was reading reviews that compared two ebook readers-I IMO MR info on that is unbiased.

Just to return to the subject of the Sony PRS 505. I have one and am very happy with it, wouldn't swap it for a Kindle etc., but want to add 2c worth in favour of pdfs.

After using LRF and epub I now prefer all my ebooks in pdf, custom formatted, because it is the easiest way to get exactly the layout I want.

Whenever possible I convert books to this format via a doc or html. OpenOffice has a very fast free pdf converter which I generally use in preference to Acrobat; apart from speed its treatment of table of contents is more consistent.

If you have texts with diagrams or pictures, it is a great advantage to be able to size and place everything in a word processor interface and then create an ebook that will reliably preserve the look.

My impression was, that he knew why I didn't want it, and this was not the first time he had heard this.

The bottom line is, I will in all likelihood replace my readers within the next year, and it may not be with an Amazon device. I'd like to keep the titles I purchased, which is not so much to ask, IMO.
Of course, I feel the same way. I don't want to read the books on my iphone, but on my reader, including future readers. But I am still surprised that Amazon sees it that way. This does tell us, that they really listen to their customers. Amazon!

You may well be right, but I just want to get reading, not spend hours preparing the file.
