Well with Disney you'll never have to worry about finding a replacement (other than paying for it again), but there are plenty of movies/albums/old TV series that you just can't get any more.

Myself, I started buying music CDs fairly early (~ 1986) and had to rebuild my collection a couple of times due to loss/theft/inconsiderate former friends since then; I also have a couple of concert videos which would be impossible to get today. With that I finally decided I'd invested enough in the entertainment industry.

I've got funny backup problems at the moment (win 7 & WD Smartware )

BUT one thing that puzzles me is why the backup software stores the backup index on the drive it is backing up. How does that work on restore if the drive is U/S - or am I missing something obvious.

It may be for convenience, not necessity.
