How Many Books on Your Reader

I have about 8 or so on my Sony 505 at all times. They are mainly library books, I'm taking advantage of my NYPL non-resident card while I can. They won't renew the card as they've changed the rules in mid-stream. I have about 1,300 ebooks in Calibre. I don't see any point in loading a lot of books on my Reader. Why do so many of you have all those books on your readers? Am I missing something?

I have about 40 that I've redone as PDF for my 505. I'd probably have closer to 100, but making a decent PDF takes me a few hours and I haven't felt like cracking down on it.

Speaking only for myself.......there is a certain satisfaction in knowing wherever I am, I have every ebook I own loaded.

No matter what I'm in the mood to read, its there. If it doesn't interest me at the time, I choose another.

It doesn't add weight, or slow things down. They're just....there.

I have about 100 ebooks loaded on my Cybook. I used to have a lot more, but it kept confusing me. And I have about 30 ebooks on my iPhone.
BTW, great poll, DGma!

I have about 90.

Even if I were to add all books that are listed on my TRL, it would be no more than 200, 6 years of reading. 90 books that I have take up less than a half of available internal memory and some of them have a lot of pics.

First off, your avatar is adorable -- a reader in the making.

As to loading your reader with a lot of books, I can tell you why I like having as many as possible on mine. There is just something about holding an entire library in the palm of my hand that I find very appealing. The more books I have the happier I am.

I am a pack rat when it comes to books (both paper and electronic) and don't like to give away or delete anything. I know it's obsessive compulsive, but I keep thinking that the moment I delete it is the moment I'll need it for something.

I actually have 384 purchased ebooks loaded on my 600 but also have a 4G SD card loaded with about 120 books, most of which are Harlequin bundles, consequently, I don't know the actual number of books but am estimating well over 500. I also have a 4G Memory Stick with all my freeby downloads which are well over 400. I have no idea why I decided to separate my ebooks in that way, but since I've started it I figured it would take too much effort to change it around and I would rather be reading.

On a side note: I don't know why Sony changed the ebook library software so that it no longer shows the actual ebook count like it used to. It helped me compare my ebooks in Calibre and ELS so that I didn't miss any. I wish these developers would talk to the common person before they make changes.

Most definitly, yes. The object that spends so much time in your hands, that provides joy and sorrow, thrills and tears, has got to have at the very least it's own name!

I decided that if I was to have something in my hand so often, it needed to be masculine, but I know that many people tend to use the feminine to talk about their device... a matter of perspective, I guess.

And I'm with Daiti, A-DO-RA-BLE avatar!
