Does Calibre recognize the Astak Pocket Pro?

i have same issue with calibre & pp .When calibre is on if i connect pp it does recognize bebookmini but then shifts to error during communication to reader :
.. I am sure it is regarding those chinese languge caractor that i can't remove. i tried what was suggested but no matter what when i hook up pp i can only view my sd card not the content of internal memory of pp it always says that it is not formated & i have to do it. i tried also other usb port & still fails....

This sounds like the PEz USB 2.0 problem I have with Intel 82801EB controller chip (multiple systems). If it connects at all, it will error out like you describe. The difference I saw, was I could not Drag and Drop with Windows Explorer.

I installed a cheap (US$7.50), non-Intel USB1.x(just to avoid any conflicts) card I found at Fry's and have no problems now.

you might be right i have a emachine all intel inside. i was shure that some of my usb port( i have about5-6 on the pc) where not 2.0 & i though that if i tried those issue would be resolve but it isn't so i will try that to see if it works.

Try (temporarily) Disabling USB2 this way:
Disconnect ALL USB storage devices before doing this
http://www.mindspring.com/~dragonsclaw/USB2_disable.JPG
Right click on the device, select disable(only).

Now connect your PEz and see if it works right with Calibre.
(You can connect other USB storage devices , also. They just run slower)

Again theducks, These solve the error communication problem I had with my EZ Pocket Pro to connect with Calibre. It connects and send my books really fast.
