Talking What's that thing biting you on the ass mate!

Don't look now guys and girls but you can have a wireless ebook reader no matter where you live in the world already. There are Pocket PC's, smartphones, netbooks, minilaptops, iphones etc etc etc. There are even Windows CE based devices with 6 inch e-ink displays coming soon if you absolutely have to stand out in full direct sunlight when you read. With all these and other devices that can do so much more than just read books why would anyone want to buy a devcie like a kindle or a sony reader that can only read books and is going to lock you into their ebook store and or a particular carrier(telstra)?

I use a HTC touch diamond as my reader and the small screen doesn't bother me, it has twice the screen resolution of an iphone so the text is sharp and clear. If you want a bigger display there are plenty of options.

The ePub format is the MP3 of ebooks and there's noting kindle can do about that. If you think the aussie government is bad (and I agree) amazon make them look like a church choir. Hanging out for kindle to come to oz is like getting excited about swine flu coming to your neighborhood.
