Yeah, if one of them took the time (5 minutes every 3 days) to post a blog update (5 sentences) about the progress with firmware, and the bugs they're fixing, and why they make the decisions they do, it's likely no one would write a word about waiting - everyone would be well informed.

Whey they don't do that, I think it's natural to infer that they approach their work with similar dedication, and that they care about devices like they care about customers.

You're asking to much there.
Then a "Sorry, we had to delay the update because .... new planned release date is ... " would be nice.

Trying to think me as bookeen in this case, I would angrily refuse to post any news about progress, since the whole community does seem to know better what I am / should be doing and how it´s - supposed to - beeing done.

Then the last official word we have is "firmware comming Q1 2009". Not good.

Sure, at the moment the situation seems way too messy to make a change. One could think it's best to just go for a hide and hope the waves would calm themselves...

I think this is a bad idea. Remember Clintons confession (it was not sex...) or Michael Jacksons some years ago?! I think it's alway good to be honest and to say "Sorry!" would help to better the situation (despite how miserable the excuse possibly is).

When Michael from Bookeen posted in this forums and had a few words of explanation for us, everybody could feel a little bit of relief. But this is long gone.

Seems they persist on their vow of silence and maybe, when the FW update will be released in the end, nobody will remember the anger and frustration that it brought along. Me, I don't think so...

You know, it takes a long time to build up a good reputation, but just a few dumb mistakes to totally ruin it!
