From the OP:
PRS-600: Supplied Accessories USB Cable PRS-300: Supplied Accessories USB Cable Sleeve Quick Start Flyers Which implies the cover/sleeve isn't part of the standard package. |

PRS-600 with touchscreen AND dictionary. That's not too shabby at all. I wonder what the screen will be like vs. the PRS-505.

FWIW, the service manual for the 600 had the following listed as "accessories": USB cord, dummy SD card, dummy MSDuo card, carrying pouch, quick start guide (English/French or German/Dutch).

Now seriously considering upgrading from PRS505 to the 600!
Which leads to a tricky choice: I like very much the silver color because it goes well with the grayish text background (and I noticed when fiddling with older Sony store models that for black models, the black frame seems to contrast too much with the gray background and may distract from reading). At the same time, this may just be a misleading perception. And the Sony website's picture of the black PRS600 makes it look pretty tempting. So what is your experience from current models? Besides esthetics, which would be the best PRS600 for a good reading experience - black or silver model? |

Media Formats Supported -- Sony puts Amazon to shame.
Available at Retail Outlets -- Walmart, Costco, Best Buy, etc. again puts Amazon to shame. 5" model for $200 and 6" touch screen model for $300 -- that definately beats Amazon. NY Times best sellers for $9.99 -- I think Amazon probably still has the edge when it comes to the price of content (it's not just NYTimes bestsellers that are $9.99). 8 gray levels -- Amazon's 16 levels is definately better. Where is the 10" PRS-900? -- This is a huge, Huge, HUGE advantage for Amazon. Whispernet -- Another advantage for Amazon. Folders -- ??? (Amazon sucks) SD Card support -- ??? (Amazon sucks) Last edited by Daithi; 08-05-2009 at 09:41 AM. |

I'm 95% ready to sell my PRS-505 on eBay and get a PRS-600. I'm still not sure about the screen clarity and contrast; was the side-lighting the main reason the PRS-700 had poorer visibility than the PRS-505? Now that the PRS-600 dropped the lighting, I'm wondering how much the touchscreen will impact viewing the screen.
From the looks of the caparison matrix stickied on the forums, the PRS-700 is the only reader currently for sale that has this type of touchscreen (stylus and finger). Are there any readers that support this kind of touch and that don't have any side-lighting so we can look at their reviews? |

I've only once seen an e-ink device with a touchscreen which can be used with both finger and stylus. And I didn't see much of a difference. But then, who am I to judge it, as it was the second time I'd seen e-ink

If there isn't one already in your house, you can generally buy one used at a video game store for just a few dollars. Our external battery pack for the PSP will charge Kimmy's PRS-505 five times. |

However, I absolutely love the 10" screen. Given a choice between a 6" screen with great PDF support and a 10" screen with mediocre PDF support, I'll take the 10" screen in a heartbeat. The 6" screen is just too small for reading most PDFs. |

Both the 300 and 600 use a 5.2V AC adapter, which is the same as the 505. Technically, the PSP adapter is 5V, but for all practical purposes, they're the same.
