well all right, i forgive you, if you didn't know. i'm still in mourning, as you can see. nothing ever came close to pandora, of all the other ones i've tried (last.fm, deezer, not sure about spotify yet but i doubt it will be the same either). on the other hand, if i recall correctly, you couldn't play whatever song you wanted the instant you wanted it on pandora, which you can do with deezer and spotify, so i suppose they do have their good points.

That Grooveshark is pretty cool. They have Minmi, a Japanese singer from the Samurai Champloo anime series, and she ain't on Pandora. Yeah, pretty cool.

Just wanted to thank Moejoe for bringing Spotify to my attention.

I've been looking for a good legal music listening and discovery tool for a while (Loved Pandora and hated when they went US only) and a unrelated search on Mobilread popped up this thread, and led me to doing a little more research on it.

In the 24 hours since I've signed up, I've discovered a lot a of old Favourites whichi unfortunately only had on Tape, and its been a blast.

What I've found interesting and addictive about the site is the large collection of foreign language music, something which i love to explore. I currently have Playlists with Hindi, Swahili and Arabic music lined up for listening .

I'm seriously tempted to pay for the premium subscription, but am forcing myself to wait for a fe days to see how well it works. One of the major advantage of the Premium Sub (For Me at least) it that it works internationally for a unlimited period, which is a mojor boon, as i'm often outside the UK for months on end.

Now, if they get the iphone app right, its going to be killer combo.

Spotify have created a brilliant and elegant solution that should satisfy all parties (hopefully we'll see the music publishers die out and leave only the artists behind to gain the true fruits of their labours). I wonder how long it will be before movies and books go this route? Add supported and premium memberships for extra stuff.

While I won't go that far (yet), what they have is one of the best subscription services around.

by offering a free ad supported version, people can easily try it out for however long they need to get a feel for it, before deciding whether or not to pay the subscription price.

The upfront cost before letting me see how it works, what the selection is, etc has kept me away from a lot of the other subscription services, as I find limited feature/time trials annoying, as i often may sign up for a service, but not get around to using it for a while.

I'll love something like this for movies, but with the caveat of allowing offline access, as I'm often away from a fast connection, or am on 3G where you don't want to rack up huge download charges

I'll definitely love something like this for books, as I tend to read a lot, and on a lot of different subjects. being able to just select a book and begin reading without thinking about the price would be lovely.
