It might be the Dutch distributor, not Bookeen itself. The reason I got offered the refund or the BeBook was that the site where I bought it from didn't have any CyBooks in stock... in fact, it's not listed on their site any more.

I'm hoping some people here will have some info whether I should take my refund and find a CyBook somewhere else, or take the BeBook. The devices look pretty similar, but the devil is usually in the details...

Wow, hadn't seen that one yet... looks very impressive indeed... plus, it's in the same price range as my CyBook was... (I think it's 20 euros more).

Bear in mind that the Sony PRS-600 still has the old 2008 ADE renderer that the older models have. That means no full-justification for ePunb files, and a 300k flow limit. I would hestitate to buy one for those reasons, given the increasing importance of the ePub standard.

The best implementation of ePub currently available is the CyBook Opus.

Who says that to you? The Cybook ARE repaired, or replaced by Bookeen if they are beyond repair, but they never say a consumer that "they can't do something about a device". That's why it's largely better to contact Bookeen instead of the reseller

I'd seen the Opus, but it's too small for my taste... I like the paperback format.

With justification, do you mean justification of text on pages? And what exactly does the flow limit mean?

OK, this is the full story as I got it:

I returned my CyBook to the site I bought in from, who in turn sent it back to the Dutch distributor for repair. After several weeks of no news, it turned out that the distributor didn't actually have any way of repairing returned CyBooks, and was simply offering full refunds to any customers that sent CyBook devices back. I don't know why they didn't simply return them to Bookeen.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I did initially contact Bookeen. They did not answer for a long time though (more than 2 weeks if I remember correctly), so I turned to the place I'd bought it from. They have a legal obligation to make sure I have a working product.

So, I think I'll take my refund and do some research as to which device I can best get to replace my CyBook...

I don't know of ANY distributors that are able to repair such a device, only the manufacturer can do this...

Hey, I just know what they've told me... it might very well be a big bunch of BS, but to me it seems that replacing/repairing would be cheaper for them than giving me a full refund... Maybe Bookeen stopped manufacturing the CyBook G3 in favour of the Opus?
