Any kind of story you want. All are appreciated here. As for getting off MR long enough, do what I do, write your story as a series of posts on MR. Then you can check out, but you can never leave.....

including this post, mine is a 0.94

When my karma ratio first dipped under 1.0, I was incapacitated by grief and resentment. In fact, until recently, I've been living under my bed. My wife brings me a dog dish of food and water every morning before she goes to work. It's only now, after hundreds of hours of therapy via iPhone, that I can even talk about the subject. I can freely move about my bedroom now. I'm hoping that by end of the year, I might be able to try the den.

But don't feel pity for me. It's not all bad--I've been getting a lot of reading done.

The number has no bearing on anything anyway. Especially since you have no way of knowing whether a whole bunch of people with very little karma to give have thought each and every post you ever made was golden, or if one or two karma "heavy hitters" have decided to be utterly perverse and give you karma every few days even though most of your posts had the knife edged logic of the average fart. And then, you have people whose lives suck so monumentally (from time to time) that they are practically buried in sympathy karma.

So, best to just enjoy the place and the people and not think too much about karma or the lack thereof. It's really not worth the aggravation, and it's really intended as more of a game than anything (sort of like fortune cookies .... not a good idea to take those too seriously either).

Our Karma Master -- Uncle Duke -- a large giver of karma every time he shows up on the boards and the originator of MobileRead Doughnut Day -- is 24.12 for just over 800 posts.

I'm at 6.72 over about 2.5 years and in the "5,000 - 10,000 post" bracket.

I actually posted here because I was glancing through and saw :

"No, he couldn't get it out and working..."

and almost spewed iced tea all over my monitor... I guess a dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste... err have... umm... nm.... after reading the rest of the post I think I know what it refers to.... tho' I must admit I thought the more adult members seem to be having a lot more fun than I am these days.... (and in the Drive way yet!!)

I'd not say no to sympathy karma, these days, any karma would be good karma :P and no, it doesn't Really mean anything, just something fun for folks to look at and stuff!
