I will admit I purchased the Stark and JAG series from Baen once they were finally released in ebook form. Thought they were quiet enjoyable.
Another series that I found good easy reads were the Kris Longknife series by Mike Shepherd and Vatta's War by Elizabeth Moon Hard to beat the Lensman series by EE "Doc" Smith Cheers Mike |

Alien Taste, Tainted Trail, Bitter Waters and Dog Warrior in the Ukiah Oregon series by Wen Spencer.
Also Endless Blue by the same author is available from Baen. All of Lois McMaster Bujold's (4 Hugos and 2 Nebulas) books available from Baen are great SF. |

anyway. Some more Recommendations from me Enders Game.. if you've never read it your missing out. A fire upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge. I'm almost finished with it. Great Hard Scifi, Complex. Hmm, let me think. which Heinlein should I suggest today.. "The Door Into Summer" is a cool perspective into what heinlein thought the year 2000 would look like.. written in the 60s. "Marsbound" by Joe Haldeman. gets mixed reviews, but its good scifi. Teen Girl Main character. "Way Station" by Clifford D. Simak, this was a fun novel about an alien waystation on earth, with alot of Genuine surprises and humanity showing through "the badge" go read the description about this one now. it's a fun read. "childhoods end" by Clark. This Is required reading for Scifi Fans, Clarks second most popular book, almost Tied with Rama but beating it, only beat out by 2001, and that's mainly because 2001 was a Movie, and people buy movie books more. whats it about? without ruining it, think the first few minutes of Independence day, or "V". they got that scene from this book. No lizards of slimy aliens though, no president flying fighter jets. Infact.. they are kinda Nice.. but they do have a purpose. (and its not to steal our water and have a nice human steak) Suggestion Overload yet? Well One More cant Hurt.. Lets see. ive Hit Military scifi, Space Opera, Time Travel, Mars, Quirky/Alien, First Contact. what am I missing? Pioneer Scifi.. infact one of my favorite sub genres, not enough of it though Wildside by Steven Gould. boy finds a tunnel to an alternate dimension, an Earth without humans. what does he do? trys to make some coin of course. gets him and his friends into a ton of trouble with a spook. great interesting read. Lots of Pilot Jargon, Not too many books go into this much detail about light aircraft, I liked it. |

A good series on teleportation ability is The Journeys of McGill Feighan by Kevin O'Donnell Jr. A great series. I believe there are 4 or 5.
1. Caverns 2. Reef 3. Lava 4. Cliffs 5. Plains Unfortunatley, I found no e-versions through Amazon. Last edited by griffonwing; 06-09-2009 at 09:16 AM. |

The main character is a raw ensign at the start of the series who as part of daily duties assigned the role of ship legal officer. Half the book is the events leading up to the main event and the remainder is the court action. Very good IMHO. SD |

I have to say that the best sci fi book I've read in the last few months has to be Leapfrog by Steve Hendry. It's sort of a Starship Troopers/Aliens/The Day After Tomorrow hybrid, but it's an original novel. There's even a sequel in the works. Everyone should check it out. Here's the link:

KInda surprized that I didnt see Robert Jordans "The Wheel of Time" listed here, it is a great epic novel series, over a dozen book in it.
Once I started reading one, I just had to have the next book scanned and ready to be able to read as soon as the previous one was finished. Blew thru the series in about 3 months, couldnt put them down. |
