Question

I have to say that I have only been asked about it a couple of times. I was asked to pick up two Sony Readers and load them up for an elderly Irish couple I know but other than that I had only seen one other person ( and I travel alot in Europe and home to the States) and that was on a BA flight about 2 years ago and that person had a Kindle..

Make you wonder were all the e-reader owners are?

I'm so glad you mentioned the traveling between Europe and home to the States. When I saw your location to be UK/USA, I thought you might be lost or confused (which may still be the case - but I don't like to judge.)

So . . . you're bi-continental. Whatever floats your boat.

That's a brilliant idea! My version (good for those countries where the reader is not commercially available) is here

Well, I had a doctor's appointment this morning. I of course was reading when my doctor walked in and he wanted to know all about the 505. I bet we spent 20 minutes talking about my reader! He took notes and everything. He said this was something his wife would love to have.
Once again no matter where I go someone asks!

Happy Reading!

I would love to take my Sony to the doctor's with me to fill the waiting time, and to take it out with me at other useful times, but I feel that ereaders are too "hot". Having had my handbag snatched in the past, I wouldn't want my 505 to become a target.

The one I use is actually a dvd player case - it can be found here - but they are currently out of stock. You can search Google tho.

I take mine with me almost everywhere - just in case I have an opportunity to read. (And when I have it with me, I never mind being delayed in what I'm doing - I actually look at it as a good thing.) I've been asked about it at work, on the bus (by both passengers and drivers), on the street (as I've been walking and reading), and in several different pubs (by punters and serving staff). I once did an impromptu demonstration for a small group of people in one pub.

I was thinking about this thread today, and I went to Borders and sat in those comfy (well sorta comfy) leather chairs by the cafe. I proudly carried my ebook reader through the store and sat down and read, and paid attention to people passing by. Sadly, no one seemed to notice my awesome little toy. If they did, they didn't comment. Oh well, I still had fun reading. And, while I was there I also got a $15 book (a pretty recently release too!) for $2.59. I really couldn't resist that one!

Until today the closest I'd ever got to being asked about my ebook reader was people behind me at the cinema discussing the "little computer" - the film started before I got the chance to explain. Even though I read all the time and would talk about it to anyone.

Then today I was asked about it at the hairdressers. They're definitely rare round here, and I ended up describing it as an equivalent to an mp3 player for books - my hairdresser wants to get one for her sister now though!

I dunno - seems a logical response to me! One always assumes an item is available in the store somewhere.

I keep asking mothers "which aisle" that cute little infant came from.....

I've been getting this more and more as I travel with it everywhere. Most people think it's a miniture computer or a type of videogame until they see letters...I love the printed templet idea lol, I just might do that if I'm feeling a tad antisocial (or I'm in the middle of a really good book).
