What are blondies? They don't feature in UK supermarkets; nor in my recipe books. Am I missing something interesting?

I'd rather have chocolate, thank you very much. (Although I am in my bear disguise at the moment.)

Hmm.. Brownies seem to be more tasty. Still: I wouldnt object to eating some blondies - just to be on the safe side!

My wife loves Blondies far more than brownies, fudge, etc. Her best ones have butterscotch pieces in them.
Now on fudge there are two schools of thought (beyond the with or without nuts argument) -- smooth or gritty. Many people, like my wife, favor the smooth fudge while I favor the gritty version. She uses confectioner's sugar and I use regular sugar. I guess it is just a matter of what you grew up with. I can also see that VR has become a single issue politician. ![]() |

My favorite reading snacks used to be imported biscuits (Tim Tams, chocolate Hobnobs, Jammie Dodgers), but sadly the only store around here that sold them, World Market, has closed all of its Minnesota stores. Woe!
I can still get part of my fix from http://www.billsimportedfoods.com/ (highly recommended, there is also a great book/comic shop nearby, http://www.dreamhavenbooks.com/) but not everything. |

Tea, potato chips, corn chips, some cheese and fruit, and I'm missing a big one... candy! Especially double salted liquorice... (notably, the Dutch variety: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salty_liquorice)

We're hoping to plan a trip to Rutherglen in the not too distant future. It's my favourite wine growing region. The Hunter's nice, but The Barossa is too big and commercial. Laine |
