Yipes. I hope that you're not planning to drive the thing while on drugs, Ricky. (We worry about you, you know.)

Roundabouts are extremely common in Europe. I think that our roads may be a lot shorter than those in the USA. We wouldn't dream of having a pedestrian crossing on a roundabout: that would be asking for trouble. In general, horses take priority over vehicles here.

Well, thats very do-able.

However, I haven't seen (or notice) any menus from any restaurant available in braille. Is it just me?

The Magic Roundabout in Hemel Hempstead, UK has it's own wikipedia entry.

It's basically one big roundabout surrounded by several baby roundabouts - hours of fun.

EEEK! Two way traffic on the roundabout. Ug... my head is spinning.

also, In the UK I think because you drive on the left the roundabouts have clockwise traffic. Where in the US the rotary (as they are called) the traffic travels counter-clockwise.

We would all be much safer on horses I think.

Oh, no .... I do not drive while drugged. That's one reason the drive back from California to Texas was so difficult ... no pain meds for the duration of the drive.

If I'm going to do errands with the car, then I take nothing in the morning and nothing until I am home. Then, I allow myself enough to keep the pain at bay until evening, at which time I take enough to knock me out for at least eight hours.

Today, I took enough medication to let me walk the dogs, put casters on my new work table, pull some weeds out of the lawn and wash the car. All done using my left hand as little as possible.

Some of the big chains like McDonald's, Applebee's, Chili's, Green Mill, etc. have standardized braille menus that are supposed to be distributed to all of their locations. Sometimes they get thrown out, or the employees don't know about them. Independent restaurants sometimes hire a local transcriber. My personal preference is just to have my dining companion read the menu out loud to me if the print is too small or the lighting is bad. If I'm dining with other visually impaired people, the waiter/waitress is usually willing to read the menu to us. At fast food restaurants, I usually order the same thing every time so it doesn't matter as much.

You have probably thought of this already, Ricky; but when my daughter broke her arm we shrouded it in a plastic bag when she had a bath, shower, or engaged in anything involving water.

I Just finished washing all of the bugs off it (on drugs, naturally ... it's been well over 3 minutes since I told you all last) .... and eventually I will have room in the garage for it.
Bugs on drugs? Why would you waste your drugs on the bugs? I that Buddhists respect all life but that just wrong!!

I think they are more common in the UK than in the rest of Europe. Also roundabouts with pedestrian crossings (on the roads connecting to the roundabout) is pretty common at least in Sweden.

Mine isn't broken, just in a splint ... and as I found out in Arizona when the splint got wet by accident, it dries out ok.

So, last night I actually washed the splint and put it on a drying rack.

I didn't dunk it when I washed the car however, because I didn't want to have it off for very long. It's just too easy to knock it or twist it which is ever so painful.

Noosa has, I think, 39 roundabouts and three sets of traffic lights. Every time they try to put another set of traffic lights in, people protest (unless it's next to a school, because "I believe the children are our future...."). My favourite sign at a roundabout is in Noosaville and indicates its two available exits (aside from the one you've entered on) as "Noosa Heads" and then "All other destinations". So, if you're in Noosaville, and you're going to Paris...

Cheers,
Marc

Cool!! So there's a short cut to everywhere via Noosaville?? I probably could have saved a ton of gas if I'd gone through there on the way home.

Rats!! Why didn't I know that earlier???

I don't rightly know. We usually only ever take the Noosa Heads exit.
