No you won't .... silly goose. You'll be fairly close to both Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain, both of which have fantastic skiing. I lived up on Mammoth Mountain for about 2 years, and it's just a great place ... skiing, nightlife ... it's got it all.

Yes, the San Andreas is what they call a "slip-strike" fault, the Pacific Plate (on the West side) is heading Northwest, and the North American Plate is heading Southeast.

Having lived in California for many years, I've learned a lot about plate tectonics and can actually estimate the Richter scale of a quake coming out of a dead sleep, and then turn right over and go back to sleep (unless it's over 7.0, in which case I move a blanket and pillow under the nearest heavy table and then go back to sleep).

I live on the Pacific plate (Los Angeles area). San Francisco is on the North American plate. One day we will be neighbors as the Pacific plate is rotating and moving (slipping and sliding) Los Angeles northward. Maybe someday the plates wont rotate but pull apart (though that's not the way the plates are moving now) and the chunk of California on the Pacific plate could become an island. We'll all be long dead many times over before any of this happens (happy thought isn't it).

Sorry no beach front property for Arizona or Nevada.
