I've still been price-matching successfully in the UK.

Biggest recent one was £7.10 refund on a £7.99 purchase on 4th April.

And just today I also get an email asking me to confirm my email address before a price match request can go through.

In some ways, this is a good thing. Companies should check that they're not being used to bombard some poor soul with emails they never signed up for.

OTOH, I'm a pretty regular Kobo customer who's done lots of price matches in the past.

I'm not too concerned about it yet.

It could be that too many people have made a mistake typing their email or too many people are using the rebate form to spam others.

For what it may be worth, I priced matched a book last Thursday. Since it was a short term price drop, I took a screenshot of the price on Amazon and Kobo and offered to make it available if needed. The $5.49 Cdn refund landed in my Kobo account on Tuesday which considering that for most Canadians, it was a 4 day weekend from Good Friday to Easter Monday, was fast service. There was no request to confirm my email address.
