I know some friend that works on one of those places since more than 25 years, when I'd heard from a younger 17 y.o. he was close to a permanent contract, I'd been happy for him, as he was saying he was earning 1500 (circa) euros at the moment, which are not little for someone that has just finished school; too he was on a part-time and doing some repleacements for other colleagues sometimes, so that pay, in total, is fine.
I'm not sure as I know third party companies that menages those 6x2 months pre-contracts gains much more than 10 euros per hours, but I don't know, within a permanent contract, if that salary leverages.
Too I have to say some workers in there does weird work-turns as changing them in the middle of the week, being at evening one day (till 21:00 o-clock) and the morning the day after, well that depends on companies, but generally, for what I see, it won't be a cheap salary.

My time is worth (pseudo) $$.
There is usually a wait at the lane with a cashier, so using a SCOT pays off for me.

BTW Store prices can be lower if they need less PAID staff.
So, is your group causing each of the goods I buy to cost a penny more?

Note: paper shelf tags also have the PLU code to invalidate simple tag moving.
The e-Ink tags in my local stores also have the UPC code. In both cases, I often find it easier to take a picture of the tag and then zoom the image to read it.

I'm assuming you meant UPC code (EAN code if you are in Europe) since the PLU code is the code used for fruits and veggies which are mostly 4 digit with organic adding a leading 9 (that is, bananas are 4011 and organic bananas are 94011) though a couple of local stores use a 3 digit code for much of their produce (TnT, HMart, other oriental stores).

One local shop is now displaying a QR code instead of the traditional bar code on their electronics shelf labels.

PLU is a generic name for any code that is used for pricing lookup.
EAN, UPC are included.
The reason for the shelf tag to have it is to prove the price is for the article it is in front of..

Perhaps correct in the States but every source I looked at was pretty consistent about what a PLU code was. Bolding mine.

Quote:
Price Look-Up (PLU) codes are used in retail locations to facilitate the checkout process. PLUs identify bulk and random or variable weight fruits and vegetables (and related items, such as nuts and herbs). PLU codes are assigned to fruits and vegetables following a rigorous review process conducted by the International Federation for Produce Standards (IFPS). Like the industry standardized UPCs, a block of PLU numbers have been reserved for individual use by retailers.

Sometimes I think "the group" that has the supermarket-brand-card (that offers sales on the price tag) might be the reason people who doesn't bother to give them private choices for data analysis are the reasons a product may cost more (because if something values 2,20$, probably the reason persons within cards could buy it on an offer at 1,89$ is that others might actually pay 1,35$).
Maybe to collect stickers points that would allow to buy a porcelain by adding 15$ at the 150$ they already put to reach the point.
Store price won't be lower, you also would had found more offers if them has a sunday closed, as some products has to be sold fresher, probably. Anyway, imho.
