The main Kobo Sync was working, just not updating the resources for Notebooks.

Which did later update (sync) again via WiFi.

You are nit-picking. Just get your Kobo replaced, or support from Kobo. The suggestion I'm lazy for not spending more time on it is also crazy.

I'm sideloading handwriting recognition resources to my Elipsa 2E just fine. I have no reason to touch the sqlite db whatsoever.

Ey! I tested this solution with my recently acquired kobo libra colour and works great. I just tested the sideload_handwriting_recognition function because I already did the previous steps manually. Also the new URL is this one, right?
