Help with mrpi kual not targetting your device?

I've just added it, but you'll have to respin packages yourself for now.

Sorry...

So after reading and getting a crash course on how to compile kindletool with the updated device codes, so that I can respin the packages, I ran into the known issue below, which prevents me from being able to compile and install kindletool. Yes, I'm running an intel Mac.

configure.ac:144: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_MSG_FAILURE

If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow.

See the Autoconf documentation.

configure.ac:384: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_CHECK_LIB

But, thank you NiLuJe. I guess I'll wait until the packages are updated on the snapshot page.

UPDATE: after a lot of reading and learning, I managed to find and install current release versions of the tools. I was able to download and build the new kindletool package with updated devices, and respun the python and librarysync bin files. Installed with success!

Thanks again for the help, and learning opportunity!

Hi, I have a Kindle Paperwhite 11th gen Signature Edition on 5.16.2.1.1, successfully jailbroken with LanguageBreak. KUAL (coplate) and librariansync installed. Everything with the latest versions available here.

Just like the previous posts, I'm getting a "device not targeted" error when trying to install python from the snapshots page using MRPI. I tried to respin the .bin file as explained in this thread, but when using the KindleTool binary files for both Windows and Linux Mint:

"./kindletool convert Update_python_0.15.N_install_pw2_and_up.bin.bin" works to get a .tar.gz file

"./kindletool create ota2 -X -d Update_python_0.15.N_install_pw2_and_up_converted. tar.gz Update_python_respun.bin" gives the error:
"Input character 'p' is out of range!
Unknown device Update_python_0.15.N_install_pw2_and_up_converted. tar.gz (0x000)."

How can I get python installed so that librariansync works? Thanks!

Is there a way to simply tell MRPI not to check the device during the python .bin installation, as mentioned above? I tried checking in the MRPI files but not sure what needs to be commented out. Assuming that would work since the python package in the snapshot page says it works for the PW5.

I made it about 95% of the way to getting the Kindle Collections plugin to work, just stuck on this final step of getting python installed to the kindle.

In wouldn't risk doing that with a PW5 because it can't be unbricked if something goes wrong.

And PW5s have been known to get get stuck in a permanent bootloop as a result of something stupid happening with cc.db database even without the help of from any 3rd party, jailbreak only software packages.

With the PW5, it's undoubtedly dangerous, especially in light of the possible bootloop problems. It's best to exercise caution since, particularly when third-party software is involved, recovery might be challenging.

Hi, can someone please let me know if my version of Kindle is a new, previously unseen one, or if I’m just confused?

I had the same issue as the OP and used the suggested temporary fix. It worked, but now I’m wondering if it’s safe to continue using it.

Here's what my log said when I tried to install K5 Jailbreak hotfix via mrpi with a temp fix ('extensions2'):

[2024-11-23 @ 21:22:18 +0000] :: [MRPI r18983] - Beginning the processing of package 'Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.16.N_install.bin' (jailbreak hotfix 1.16.N I) . . .

Extracting update package 'Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.16.N_install.bin' to '/var/tmp/mrpi/staging'.

Sorry, I guess the question is: what should I do moving forward?

Did the hotfix install correctly? Should I continue using the temporary fix for mrpi? Is it ok?

@svenskaru

1) If you do a simple restart (reboot) on Kindle, do you see any messages below the boy under the tree? If you don't, then hotfix got installed well. If you do see messages, then do another restart - you should see from now on.

2) It is strongly advisable NOT to override any device checks! If Kindle bricks (especially PW5), there is absolutely NO way to revive it.

3) Let's ask @NiLuJe or @Marek, if they can have a look at your device and add it to the packages if everything is OK.

Thanks!
On the first reboot it said 'squash jb,' and on the second one there were no messages.

I would greatly appreciate further assistance.
Should I use PMs going forward?
