Well, I'm curious too. Has anybody got an actual number for the RMSDK version?

I fired up my Kobo Aura 2 (which I've hardly used) and see that it only makes square borders.
I looked at /usr/local/Kobo/librmsdk.so.1.0.0 (8,731,400 MD5=da7b3312cc209328c35faee358b42b79) and I see "10.0.4".

Unrelated: I notice from logs and visually that the processor itself steps up/down the backlight. That defeats the whole point of the LM3630A LED controller which can autonomously (and smoothly) ramp up/down brightness. Here's the register dump:
