Yes, you can remove the % from being displayed. Preferences > Headers and footers You can turn off the footers or change them.

Also [esc] doesn't toggle out of full screen mode for me or doesn't seem to. In fairness though, I didn't play around with the new viewer for very long.

By default, F11 toggles fullscreen on and off. Go to Preferences > Keyboard shortcuts to see how the keyboard shortcuts are defined. There's no reason any longer to use the old viewer since Calibre 4.4.

On top the toolbar is better than before. Now I can select the function I often use and decide about their order. Perfect.

![]() And… you can toggle show/hide the toolbar with Ctrl/F11 (same as old viewer). When I'm looking at a book I like to have the toolbar, but if I'm reading a book I don't… no idea why? IMO, apart from Search, the new viewer is now as good or better than the old viewer. Kovid is working on improvements to Search. What I miss most is history. BR |

Hi Kovid,
Firstly, at the outset, I would like to say that Caibre is a wonderful product but it is beginning to show its age in terms look and feel. Secondly I think that the latest version is a step backwards especially with the book reader. I have actually uninstalled version 4 and have gone back to version 3 because is so buggy. The main issue that I have with it is that it does not play well with mixed DPI. I have a laptop with an attached high resolution monitor. Opening the reader on the monitor displays no content at all. I can drag the window back to the laptop and all is good again. I was also dependent on a text-speech plugin (I am visually impaired) that no longer works with the new reader. I had at one stage used MS edge as my reader but it looks like Microsoft will drop epub support going forward. An ideal solution would be built-in support for text to speech. In fact more support for assistive features. |

personally, I don't like the new viewer as much as the previous viewer. I was in shock and kept closing it to get away from it lol. that said, I have started to adapt to it and that's a word I don't use easily.

![]() you have to forgive me, I had a glass of cognac since I posted that and this hit my funny bone. no offense meant. like to the viewer window on the left like the old version, so that the settings, navigation, bookmark stuff, font stuff, etc. stay visible instead of having to right mouse to see it every time. windows (unfortunately) 10 (even more unfortunate) Pro (the worst) |

I asked because, been there, done that before tonight, more than once, and don't see what I need. if I'm tired and blind then so be it. there is no option at all for that. is there another way to do it? if it had been there I would have already taken care of it and wouldn't have asked. thanks.
