As I haven't bought a dedicated reader yet, I can't say that it has. However, since discovering ebooks I have read considerably more and from a much wider range of genres. I only ever read non-fiction pbooks, but since reading on my PDA I have read quite a few novels.
I put it down more to taking ebooks with me wherever I go - something I wouldn't have done with a pbook. As I find myself reading whilst waiting for my wife to try clothes on in shops, etc I am going through books much quicker than before and consequently need more books to read. Overall - yes it has. |

New member here. To answer your question, no. I think what ebooks have done is maybe allow me to get over my reader quirks like the big goofy font that most publishers were using with the wide margins to make the book appear to be longer. There were some publishers whose books I wouldn't read in paper but ebooks helps me get around that (my reader quirks).
I've had my Sony Reader for several months now and love reading on it. I will now go to the Intro forum to formerly introduce myself. Thanks. |

avidreader, I know what you mean. I resisted reading 'Wicked' for a long time because the trade paperback was a non-standard size and would not line up properly on my bookshelf, and then the mass-market paperback has a spine which was tinted green. I am a bit OCD about weird stuff like that

I started reading more pre-1900 books that I wouldn't want to carry around with me. I like that I can now carry a tome (several in fact) in a 9 oz. format.
It has got me to read more in the last couple of years since I got it. I am averaging 35-40 books a year since I bought my reader. Back in the paperback days, I hated to get something too thick as I don't like to stress the spine of the book to breaking it. I treat my books with great care and always felt bad if I did break the spine. Now I don't have to worry about it in the world of e-books. ![]() -Seth Williams, San Francisco, CA Last edited by solitarywolf; 11-23-2008 at 10:02 PM. |

Judging by my own current trends, I think ebook collections follow Moore's Law -- they double in size every 2 years. There just aren't enough hours in the day *ever* to catch up with my read queue, unless I get stranded on a desert island without internet access for a decade or so.

I'm a newbie and it's April 2011 so forgive if I am doing all this the wrong way.
HarryT had a 16 volume collection "Haggard Anthology" of works of Sir Henry Rider Haggard. HOW do I contact HarryT or carandol to seek to share this collection. Thanks for any help. JR in Australia = jroz |

I've had my Kindle for 3 months, I got it for Christmas
![]() ![]() I tend to read anything and everything I can get my hands on, whether or not I'll continue reading past the first few pages or paragraphs depends on the quality of the text I suppose. In fact, I need to be able to read anything and everything so I have a collection on my Kindle called concerning copyright, filled with texts on the history of copyright, intellectual property law etc.. Definitely not things I would have read if the Kindle had not fallen into my hands last Christmas. ![]() |
