I have to say - I *LOVE* the bezels and soft touch rubber on that newest Nook Glowlight Plus. I think they have nailed the ergonomics of it. Thinner is absolutely not better, but the width of the bezels helps tremendously also.

My dream machine would be the Nook GLP 2019 and Kobo software I think.

I could even handle it being a touch thicker, or perhaps having thicker parts around the edges where it gets gripped.

They also have an android app named PocketBook which stands out because it displays an e-book properly, unlike almost all of the other ones. It's a Swiss company so maybe we could assume it's well made like a Swiss watch?
Pocketbook readers can be set to a storefront, in fact here in Germany they are either tied to the bookstore that sold the device or to bookland.com, which seems to be tied to Pocketbook somehow (at least AFAIK).

You are not forced to sideload, even if your device is not set to a certain bookstore. Books can be bought at ANY store or library borrowed using the browser, downloaded from Dropbox or emailed to the reader. If you want to set a certain bookstore to shop with for an untethered device, just email the information and the serial number of the device to Pocketbooks customer service.

The company is not Swiss, it is from the Ukraine. They have their head office now in Lugano (guess that's tax related). The readers are manufactured in China as everyone else are.

You might wanna look at their Wikipedia entry. BTW, the sell 60% of all ereaders in the Czech republic and I think it was 40% of the readers in Poland. They in East Europe are what Kindle is in America. Their CS is absolutely stunning. For example Forkosigan, a member here on MR and other ereader forums really listens to us and they incorporate customer wishes into the software.
