Yup. Download an app called Opener and use it with the Share Sheet. Or you could download Shortcuts and use the "Open in Chrome" action which I do A LOT. It's annoying but not a dealbreaker for me. Some apps allow you to choose which browser you want to open things in.

I have generated a wiki page for the iPad Air 2019 and updated the iPad mini. I may add some more data later. Both support the original Apple pencil and the 3rd party ones..

Just for grins I entered my iPad mini 2 and iPad Pro 9.7” as trade-ins to see what Apple might allow for each. You can only trade in one used item per one new item being purchased.
  • $76 trade-in for iPad mini 2, 16GB, WiFi only applied to iPad mini 5
  • $189 trade-in for iPad Pro 9.7”, 32GB, WiFi only applied to iPad mini 5

Quite frankly that is more than I expected for my mini 2 but less than what I expected for the Pro. I could probably do better on eBay for the Pro even figuring listing fees and shipping costs.

The Mini 2 was released 5 years ago. And with 16gb my guess is not a bad price.

I guess it depends on the level of detail you'd want. Alas, Evernote owns Penultimate now and its just not the same as it was. My current stylus of choice is an Adonit Dash 3, which I find adequate for most situations. I still have a cheapo as well. https://www.adonit.net/dash/

Of course, any stylus in use will behave according to the application it works in. Many have palm rejection built in.

I'd accumulated 3 or 4 older iPad models and sold them all on eBay when I bought my iPad Pro. I was amazed at what high prices they sold for. Older iPads still seem to be very much in demand. I finished up in profit - I got more from selling my old iPads than the new one cost me .

I’m like a packrat when it comes to keeping old iThingies too! I have noticed the same thing about selling old iPads and iPhones and Macs on eBay. They definitely retain value well. If I decide to upgrade to the iPad mini 5, and I probably will, I will list my current two iPads on eBay to help lower the cost of upgrading. I will wait for reports from early adopters first just to make sure there aren’t any major issues with the new iPad mini 5.

Here is a link to the MacRumors review of the iPad mini 5. The article does have a list of seven other reviews near the bottom, but I haven't had the chance to look at them.

The main thing I'm wondering about is the sound quality. My iPad Pro 9.7" has excellent sound coming from four speakers, but my old mini 2 has only two speakers and the sound is rather tinny. I don't expect the mini 5 to compete against a Pro model in sound quality, not even a discontinued Pro model, but I do hope it has a much better sound than my old mini 2 has.

Pre-ordered a Mini, here. I've looked everywhere, really wanted to stay on all Android but there is just nothing Android even close--nor on the horizon--that has this almost perfect form factor of the Mini for reading and browsing, not to mention the great new CPU.

I plan to order for pick up at my local Apple store on Monday, assuming it's available for pick up on Monday. I'll keep the old mini as a spare. I'm a belt and suspenders sort of guy.

I'm gonna be really mad if Samsung comes out with a beautiful S4 8" Android tablet next month. But I doubt it, it feels like they are slowly starting to abandon the tablet market....their recent efforts have been weak compared to Apple's.

If I buy one I have to wait until next month on payday (retirement check), and only then after I sell my iPad Pro 9.7". I haven't decided whether I will sell my old mini 2. I will probably just order off of Amazon since I will have to pay sales tax regardless of whether I buy it on Amazon or Apple since both have B&M presence in my state. With Amazon I will get the same price as from Apple and probably get it delivered the same day or the next day. There is an Apple store about 10 miles away, but it is in a high traffic area that is a PITA to drive through.

You have to buy one now. They're just too cool, think about that new A12 CPU, or the improved colors, or the faster graphics processing......

I SHOULD be doing that, definitely would be the more thrifty thing to do. But my old trusty Nexus 7, though I reinvigorated it with a custom ROM that got me to Android 8.1, is just giving up the ghost due to aging battery, loose charging port, other issues not easily/cheaply resolved. So I needed a 7" to 8" tablet solution basically now.
