Snow!?!?! - Page 4

We're having Indian Summer here inthe Great Icebox. Which is generally a harbinger of nasty things to come. I got up to nearly 70 F today.

We got our first proper snow yesterday, about two inches, although the next village over has over 10 inches - time to bring in the outdoor furniture and trampoline I guess....

Had our first snow around Montreal but it melted on contact. It's Vermont that had trouble with that storm, they had something like 16 inches.

Weather never really bothers me. I get in the shop when it's dark and I get out when it's dark and there are no windows to peek out of. As long as there is'nt too much stuff on the road I don't mind anymore. All I want is to get back home to put my feet up next to the pellet stove and enjoy something relaxing.

Currently - 71 / Overcast...tomorrow: 82 and sunny.

Don't know the C equal...except "Hot!"

What I wouldn't do to go back North where there's more than two seasons "Hot" and "Hotter"

Oh, do you think someone will throw a snowball at me if I post a picture I took yesterday at lunch? The white stuff peeking through the leaves is a cloud. Not a fluffy flake of snow in sight.

If there is to be any throwing done around here, it should be chocolate balls (available in the chocolate arsenal...)

Saw a hawk on my chimney cap at dusk today, eating it's dinner. I tried to take pictures, but I haven't checked them out. (I doubt they came out.)

Pretty leaves!

The bird is quite small in that picture but to my memory its presence on a house and its colors indicate more of it being a falcon than a hawk.

It is beautiful. These birds are fascinating.

I don't know if falcons are native to Texas. Whatever it is, it's a bird of prey. I'm proud to have my yard eco-friendly enough to have it's presence... (Along with the lizards, doves, occasional frogs, fish in the water lily tubs, ect.) And roses - lots of roses....

You're effectively quite lucky to have such a visit. Keep up the eco treatment and bravo for it.

Did you know that birds of prey were almost eradicated by DDT? They are making a comeback now and their habits have changed a lot compared to the seventies. In my region they live on powerlines next to highways. I guess the noise distracts prey just enough to make them careless and available. Again, fascinating creatures.
