Still only the Kobo Aura One, but if you borrow overdrive on KA1, the other devices will see it too.

We've got a few updates for you:

· We've added some options to the Show menu in the Books section. You can now filter to show only purchased, downloaded, or imported books.

· If you borrow library books with OverDrive on a Kobo Aura ONE eReader, you'll now be able to read them here, too

Note: The OverDrive feature is currently available in North America, UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

You can find a list of the first 5 or more digits of the PCB in bin/kobo_config.sh and how they relate to device models
Code:
#!/bin/sh
PCB=`ntx_hwconfig -s -p /dev/mmcblk0 PCB`
RES=`ntx_hwconfig -s -p /dev/mmcblk0 DisplayResolution`
case $PCB in
	E60610D*) echo trilogy;;
	E60QB*) echo kraken;;
	E606B*) echo kraken;;
	E5061*) echo pixie;;
	E60Q9*) [ "$RES" == "800x600" ] && echo pika || echo alyssum;;

	E606G*) echo dahlia;;
	E606F*) echo phoenix;;
	E70Q0*) echo daylight;;
	E60QL*) echo star;;
	*) echo trilogy;;
esac
For instance in the Mark 5 package you can find upgrade\mx50-ntx\uImage-E606G0. That means it is for the H2O (codename dahlia). I guess, in the case of newer models, this is all you have to know. If you need more certainty, you have to run a script on the device to get more information.

For KSM users: you can select "user scripts > tests > returntests.msh > get platform etc new.sh"
On my Touch C this returns:
Code:
platform: mx50-ntx; pcb: E60610D; ramsize: 256; ramtype: KAX2G323PC
This corresponds to
  • upgrade\mx50-ntx\uImage-E60610D
  • upgrade\mx50-ntx\u-boot_mddr_256-E60610D-K4X2G323PC.bin
in the mark 4 update package.

Before installing, I'm waiting for davidfor to say if they can be installed.
As I've said far to often in the last week, the final arbiter of if the firmware is available to your device is the sync from the device to Kobo's server. If the server is offering it to the other devices, then it supposed to go there.

And to allay any fears, this is expected. Kobo had said in the beta group that they would be releasing a firmware to the other devices soon. They didn't give a timeline, but it's obviously today. This includes the updated kernel for all devices, so anyone installing this manually use all the files in the appropriate package for your device. And I have been running this on all my devices for at least a week with no problems.

I am using 4.2.8432 since I saw it mentioned in this thread back on February 1.

It seems the auto-adjust light issue pre-dates this firmware, as other mentioned they saw it earlier.

At this point, I leave the auto feature off and just manually adjust the light as needed because one of two things happens:
1. The auto-adjust keeps getting switched off
2. The auto-adjust goes from automatic value down to 0%

Is this issue firmware related, or an issue with my device?

Other than the light issue, things seem to be working okay.

Make sure your "automatically turn off light in bright sunlight" option is disabled in the settings and then try it.

I recognize point 1. Mine does that too. It's not specific to 4.2.8432; it has done it from the beginning. No idea what triggers it.

Thanks, I disabled it this afternoon. I'll monitor and see if it makes any difference.

In my Kobo firmware downloader (not the one JSWolf is talking about), I have added the beta affiliate to the list, so it is now up to date with the latest firmware.

I have also added an option to filter the list, which might be useful, for example by firmware version, mark number, model name, or model ID.

Since it seems FNAC is the affiliate currently delivering the new firmware, can you please add in FNAC as well? Thanks.

Do you know if any affiliate will show the new firmware for the older Kobos (mini, glo, so on)?
