The faulty sleep function itself doesn't trouble me since I've inhibited it in all my former devices after a few days trying for the first: it is not reliable since a movement in a handbag or rucksack can turn on the device, and putting it to sleep has become a reflex - and is easier with that blue button too.
There is no faulty sleep function here at any time lmao

Kobo Aura One sleepcover issues

The Kobo sleepcover on my Aura One does not work well. (Yes, I do have the 4.1.7729 update.)
1) The sleepcover does not put the reader to sleep. (Yes, I have that checked to do so in settings.)
2) With the sleepcover closed, the Kobo One, more often than not, stays awake with the light on and causes excessive battery drain. My lighting is set to 11% and I lose about 80% of the battery in around 6 or 7 hours. Currently, I press the green button before closing the sleepcover and I am unhappy to need to do that.
3) The sleepcover causes "phantom page turns" when closed.
- Is another firmware update expected?
- I have ordered one of those 3rd party Chinese $8.00 Kobo Aura One sleepcovers

I would love to hear your review when you get it. I'm particularly interested in seeing if the phantom page turns still occur. I view that as a hardware issue (why in the world is the sleepcover conductive?!I) and a different material in the cover may solve that issue.

I'm not so sure about the battery drain problem. That smells like a software/firmware issue to me so my suspicion is that that issue may continue to occur with any cover which uses the magnetic closure to trigger sleep mode.

I returned the Kobo approved cover because I had so many problems with it. In fact, the only battery drain issues I've had have been when I was using the cover. Otherwise, my device's battery life has been great. But yeah, the issues you cite seem to occur for multiple people.

This thread has been dead for a bit.

While initially it didn't happen to me it eventually started and I would find page turns or text selection. Has anyone found success with other covers or with hacks to the Kobo cover?

Really is a shame because the Kobo cover fits and looks very nice.

I too am experiencing page turns, randomly selected text, and battery drains on my Aura One because the sleep cover is not working properly. I'm very interested to know whether any 3rd-party sleep covers work better or if Kobo is working on some kind of fix. It's really very frustrating.

For 5 days now, I have been using a 3rd party (+/-$9.00 from China) sleep cover on my Kobo Aura One. I returned the Kobo sleep cover after 2 days using the 3rd party sleep cover. It is a sorry thing that such a good looking, very nice fitting, great feeling & handling and expensive sleep cover is so functionally unsatisfactory.

With my new 3rd party sleep cover, I have had a few "phantom page turns", but not nearly so many as with the Kobo sleep cover. My 3rd party sleep cover puts my Kobo Aura One to sleep every time. That is the most important resolution for me. With the Kobo sleep cover, I would never know if I had any battery left. It was terrible to having charged the battery full and having closed the sleep cover, to pick up the eReader after half a day and be unable to read anything because of battery drain while the eReader was supposedly asleep.

I hope that Kobo will build a functional sleep cover and not pretend that everything is fine because the reader is fine.
