Well, I created a new wiki account (geekmaster2). It is a LOT of work to upload on THIS computer -- too much page scrolling. I need much higher vertical resolution like when I did all my old posts here. Uploading wiki images is a drag on this laptop. And no batching, and multiple clicks... And then I need to edit EVERY POST here to copy the URL from EACH wiki image into the post edit box. I got this one done (but too much work to do them all -- the photo album was much easier):
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...20#post3328020 All this work just so some non-mobileread folks can read my posts like they did for my old posts? Last edited by geekmaster; 06-02-2016 at 09:36 PM. |

The wiki is all effed up too when doing a password change. Try it. For me it whines about session hijacking and aborts... Not only is the "security" code false-detecting "hijacks", but it keeps using the same damned ("Team Player", "Diving Board", and maybe a couple others) "security" answers -- something a REAL hijacker or spambot would love... And it is so awkward (on this computer) to upload pics to the wiki, that replacing ALL the photos in this thread (like I did in that ONE post) will be a yuge effing PITA. Not ready for that now... Then in a new session, checked the images in this thread - Still visible. - - - - I then used my browser's controls to clear all cached website data (which would have included CSS and JavaScript) - Closed that browser - Opened another one - Result: No images displayed (clearing my cached website data breaks the display of images). - - - - Well, now I know how to turn them on - just "quote" a post with an img tag (which causes the editor to fetch lord only knows what additional stuff) and then cancel rather than submit the new post. Wrong! Even opening this post of mine (without any img tags) in the advanced editor re-enables the display of GM's images. There is a technical term for that behavior: Broke. = = = = Hmm.... Where did I put that copy of WireShark? Just learning what things the browser downloads in response to opening the editor would probably lead to the cause of the problem (one or more of those things should be in the default page header). I have described what is happening out here in user-land with the IMG tags handling. But I don't have access to fix it. |

I will just go away for awhile. Maybe y'all will fix this pile of crap before I return. I have no use for posting at a website that causes such painful memories...
Your wiki is broken. Your photo albums are broken. Your thread rendering is broken. And now apparently your PM notices are broken too. And on top of that, your website just logged me out for no apparent reason -- I was worried that you deleted my account or something... Last edited by geekmaster; 06-02-2016 at 10:27 PM. |

Oh, now you are DELETING my posts too! That was a valid point I made. Your PM notices are not working as well as all the other problems. I did NOT ignore your PM. There is an inapproriate word for the attitude you are expressing, aimed in my direction. Stop deleting my posts, and stop being so rude!
Threatening me as you did is no proper behavior for a moderator, nor is it an effective appology for YOUR PROBLEMS! And using the excuse that your wiki dude is on vacation does not explain why my pleas for you to fix it FOR YEARS were ignored. If you want to throw around claims of ignorance, sling them at other staff members, not me! EDIT: Or if you did not personally delete my post, then your website has additional problems as well. Who has been mucking around in your code base lately? Last edited by geekmaster; 06-02-2016 at 10:49 PM. |

If you're speaking of the post where you originally called one of us a liar, I put that post in moderation until I realized you had edited it to remove the offending phrase. It has now been restored.

That would go a long way to restoring my faith in your staff. Thanks... And sorry about that "liar" comment -- I do not respond well to rudeness aimed in my direction (an "aspie" thing). Your broken website seems to be causing emotional escalation here (including with moderators). I try to stay upbeat and forward looking all the time, but some things just get tiring (and I have never been all that good at dealing with trolls, especially my biggest pet-peeve "false accusations", as my posting history shows). And that is what I perceived in the quoted moderator post, but now I see that we can blame it on your borked website code base instead. Last edited by geekmaster; 06-02-2016 at 11:00 PM. |

A vacation would probably be a good thing right now for you if this bothers you so much. Insulting our site and Mod Team for something that is out of ability to do isn't right. Dale is on vacation but he may not have enough Admin power to do what you are asking. We are only moderators we have nothing to do with site code or the scripts here.

However, I do understand your need to stick together as a team, but being rude to members such as me (in public and in PMs) is not acceptable, especially with your moderator priveleges. Saying I *CHOSE* to ignore a warning that was NOT received is an assumption that borders on speaking things that are not true. Yeah, I get your message LOUD AND CLEAR. I am not welcome here, even though I deserve an apology from y'all instead... |

I saw The PM sent, and issybird was in no way rude to you. Her posts asking you to cool it was not rude either.
The bottom line is Alex and Dreams are on a extended leave of absence. There is no one who can answer your questions or do what you are asking. Tonight was the first time any of us have heard about the issue. If you continue to throw hissy fits then yes it's best for you to take a break from MobileRead because no one here CAN help you right now on the issues you had tonight.
