I rarely read on my cell phone. I have several games that I like to play if I'm out and don't have one of my electronic readers with me. I occasionally download a book onto it, but I usually finish reading it on a different device.

For me, maybe 15% of the time
I use my Galaxy S5, it's a fairly decent ebook reader though not as good as my Lenovo 10 inch tablet. Even though I'm 66 Y.O. i find the text is still legible, but I do prefer the tablet.
I have both the Kindle software and the Moon Reader Pro on both Android devices. My Galaxy S5, I use mostly for waiting rooms and other unexpected down time when I just don't have my tablet with me. |

Shoot! when I was younger I used to read ebooks all the time on an old Palm m100. Now, that might be difficult!

I might be the outlier here because my cell phone is my primary reading device, followed by physical books and lastly my Kindle. Unless if I am travelling in which case the physical books drop to third.
Edit: I just updated my "Device" field to reflect my reading habits. Last edited by LovesMacs; 05-02-2016 at 05:38 PM. Reason: New reading device hierarchy |

I just bring my Kindle with me if I know I will be waiting for a while. Phone only when my Kindle is dead (very rarely), I forgot my Kindle at home (1x a month or so) or I am in a situation where I wasn't expecting to be able to read.

The battery life of a dedicated reader argument doesn't affect me at all. I always plug my phone in and charge it when I go to bed. I have NEVER had it run out - even when texting, googling, surfing, reading all day...It's sometimes pretty close to dead when I go to bed the next night, but it is always charged back to 100% the next morning!
The e-ink in sunlight argument also doesn't affect me. If I'm outside and there is sunlight reflecting on the screen, then I slightly tilt the screen in a different direction, or *gasp* maybe turn the other way, and the reflection is no longer a problem...lol ![]() In any case, to each their own. I'm just happy people are reading !! |

I don't have a phone, so the answer is whatever is less than "never".

A lot of people think I have two phones because I have my iPod Touch (5th gen) in a wallet case - they assume it's an iPhone because who would put their mp3 player in a wallet case and not their phone? ![]() I do use my old AT&T phone (from before Republic was viable here) as an extra mp3 player (I can never have too many) and an extra controller hub for my media server. It's a Pantech Flex and it's like brand new. I love it now that it no longer has a SIM card in it. |

I read almost exclusively on my Samsung Note 3. I listen to books more then I read them these days and like to follow along with the narrator with the eBook and Amazon has decide in there infinite wisdom to take the Audio feature out of there kindles. Because of this my Kindle, which I received as a gift, sits in my book bag and has not been touched in close to a year.

I have a Galaxy Note 4 and I use the Kindle app on it to read on my lunch break. I work 12 hour shifts so I'm only there 3 days each week. Otherwise I use my Galaxy Tab at home (until tomorrow when my Oasis arrives!).

![]() My current phone (Lumia 950XL) is huge, but I still don't really like it for reading, as I find the width too small compared to the height. For reading I'd like at least 16:10, 4:3 would be best. 3:2 I've never tried... Quote:
And my old phone is mostly used as you'd use a Ipod Touch (at least, if I remember correctly, that's the one that looks like an Iphone, but isn't?) I like use it, as the screen gives me a lot of information and I can easily switch between numbers (or listening to music or listening to an audiobook). |

I read on Pocket PCs and then smartphones for over ten years before I got my first e-ink device. I prefer e-ink now and usually have an ereader in my purse when I go anywhere.
That said, while I can no longer even imagine life without ebooks I wouldn't have much trouble re-adapting to reading them on small lcd screens if I had to. |
