So has anyone checked to see if this was just another lame April Fools joke with a faked message supposedly from Bezos? Just curious. This kind of announcement just seems odd and suspect compared to the low key announcements in the past few years. Of course most, if not all, of the Kindles released in the past few years have not been ground breaking innovations. It is funny how if Amazon, or most any other company, tells the public they really need their latest greatest release of a product how people just immediately buy into it. Especially when most new releases these days are not innovative, but rather minor updates to existing platforms. It is also funny to read all the wishful thinking in this thread what with all the "must have options" if it is to be successful. Yeah right! It will be successful even if it is just a pile of cow flop painted chrome. Marketing experts know how to play us!

This actually is not true. It can function both ways (reflective and transmissive).

I suspect the rumour is untrue. Either that, or Amazon has chosen to make their version of Liquavista reflective only, possibly to improve quality.

All massive speculation...It's probably just a water-proofed Voyage.

Why would it? Liquavista screens can be backlit, just like LCD.

Does the fact that the US Amazon store is the only one with all the current e-readers reduced mean that it's going to be a US-only release only for now? IIRC when the Paperwhite first appeared, release in Europe was several months after the US - you lot can be the guinea pigs again if that's the case this time round too

I don't know why people complain about a premium reader having a premium price,the voyage was the only ereader considered 'expensive' but $200 for something most people would use everyday or every other day isn't really something to moan at.

I'm not sure how Amazon can improve the current voyage except for making a bigger version of it,which is what I want anyway,not too interested in a colour screen unless it has some added functionality besides reading books.

Jeff Bezos usually only tweets on Blue Origin stuff. This is a rare departure for his tweets...He is not a rumor starter...If anything, he denied a Amazon phone for years. I expect if he says it-it is coming.
Time will tell if this/these devices are something we will want to buy...Hopefully!
