Ha .... the Google map doesn't even show my house ... and it's five years old. In fact, it doesn't even show the road going to my house and that's older than five years. And .... just noticed ... the map says Feb 2002.

Let's see coordinates ..... W 98 degrees 25 minutes 31.59 seconds and N 30 degrees 33 minutes and 11.73 seconds. I might be off, but only by a few hundredths of seconds of arc.

Those coordinates would put you pretty much right in front of the house. Should I put in a batch of brownies?? Is anyone coming to visit??

Hmmm ... you're right. Wonder how fast a nearly 56 year old woman can dig in six days using a hand pick???

Release another dog....

You're planning on digging an 800ft trench with a hand pick in temperatures approaching 3 figures .
Wouldn't hiring some mechanical digging equipment be less arduous for a job that size?

It'd be quicker too - I'm looking forward to seeing you emerge from the long jump pit in the Olympic stadium .

yes really, perhaps you should consider giving yourself a break on this one.

Might work, but knowing my dogs, they'd just run off to chase the deer.

Oh, I wish I could use machinery ... but then there's all that "explaining" I would have to do to the people up on the ridge as to exactly what I am doing with it.

This is something I'd really rather they don't know about. You know ... land mines and all that. Or ... getting to the Olympics that is.

Nooo ... don't do that on my account.

You know ... it might sound silly (talking about digging to China and land mines), but ... and I shit you not ... there was one time I was talking to one of the "officials" of the City of Horseshoe Bay (on the "issue" of my kitties), and he started quoting to me things that I had written about my cats from a bunch of sites just like this.

I think I had posted at one point that I had 19 cats (because I don't usually count Carolyn ... although I do now). I realized at that point that the creepazoids in HSB and the snobs up on the ridge actually monitor my actions on the net. Not all the time, but often enough.

So, now .. .more often than not ... I post that I have 20 cats, 2 dogs, and 5 pygmy elephants. Things like that. I don't happen to agree with annonymity on the net ... so, whenever I can, I just use my real name ... but as long as those bozos are going to keep tabs on me, I make certain that they never know why I might do something, and never actually see me doing it.

And from time to time I post my opinion of the lot of them (which is currently somewhere in the seventh sub-basement).

you forgot to mention the panda, 5 squirrels, the armadillo and the platypuss...

next question would be 'how'd they know it's you" or was the "official" just being general in their comments...

I bought a soaking hose today, which I plan to use to really soak the areas where I have to dig. I'm hoping it will make the process easier. Really hoping. Luckily the trench doesn't need to be all that deep.

Oh, no. He was very specific. The thing is, at the site where I post my artwork, this site, and several others, my member name is the same as my real name.

As I recall, he (or they) got the information off of my Renderosity gallery site. And, I think I will add the panda, squirrels, armadillo .... heck, I'll add the whole freaking zoo.

No, caleche as in hard packed, rock-like clay that takes a pickaxe and tactical nuclear device to dig a hole into. I once put in a sprinkler system in San Antonio and part of the yard was caleche about a micrometer below the "topsoil" the developer had put down as a yard. The ditch witch just about threw me over the fence when I hit that. Ended up bringing in about six yards of topsoil and just burying the sprinkler lines under that, on top of the caleche.
