Well, my old Kobo Glo case works with the Kobo Glo HD. Though, I might still get a new one cause I want a purple one.

I charged mine when I got it as it's recommended to do that before patching. I am still on that charge. Battery life is awesome compared to my Paperwhite.

If you're like me, if it comes with anything over 1/2 charge in it it's going to get used at least until I'm done reading that night and then going on a charger. Hasn't effected the life of any of my batteries that I've noticed. New battery tech is much more forgiving about how you need to use it to avoid problems. To get the meter calibrated you might want to let it run down pretty good with regular use before charging the first few times (preferably not to empty as that is "harder" on it -- harder in this case being pretty relative since you won't charge the battery on an e-reader anywhere near as often as a cell phone or something).

Hmm. I think that's what I did on my previous Aura.

How accurate is the battery meter now? I remember my Aura giving me inaccurate readings (e.g. from 100% to 80% in ~20 minutes immediately after removing from the charger then it would decrease very, very, very slowly). I'm guessing the 100% charged status is not really 100% charged yet.

Now I wonder if I should completely charge it immediately after unboxing (like what is recommended on mobile phones) or I can already sideload books then use it and charge only when the battery gets pretty low.

I've had terrible battery meter experience with my two Glos (switched off near 15%, dropped from 100 to 80% in 30minutes etc) but the Glo HD is perfect. Meter drops steady from 100% to 0%.

I got the official Kobo Glo HD case from Chapters. It's good, though I could do without the extra little flap. Though it's not too bad and of course it's purple!

So I got to around 38 hours of reading (as per reading stats) on my first charge before my Glo HD's battery went to 0%. Now it says 68 hours with 20% remaining and I'm planning to let it go to 0 again before charging to calibrate it. Does the battery life sound about right?

Kobo's claim is 60 days at 30 minutes per day. That means 30 hours. Your 38 hours is well over that. And the 68 hours means 30 hours since the recharge. With 20% left, you are again way better than Kobo's claim.

Glad to hear that. For a minute there, I was a bit paranoid with the battery life.
