Need help unbricking a PW1

You must be missing something obvious.
I do not know what/where it is.

All I can do is suggest, again, that you read the references describing the SoC's power-on boot sequence and its requirements.
Compare that with what your doing to identify the missed part.

Note:
Although I have only written about starting d-ram, that is not the whole story - -
A very large number of the SoC's pins are programmable, those are set during the setting of the d-ram configuration.
That pin programming **must** match the engineering version of the motherboard the SoC is mounted on.

Right now, you have a small amount of on-chip static ram working (check references for how much and its address) -
You also have a utility that lets you transfer executable code to the device and run the code.

I have never done it myself, I would have to read the references also.

Should I see something when the switch to fastboot is made with imx_usb (or Mfgtools) ?
If not, is imx_usb tested and sure to be working with PWs?

I am confused.

I have installed XP on a real machine so that I can follow the Noob Guide à la lettre.
What I found out is that the device is detected as a HID only for a few seconds.
It automatically disconnects itself afterwards, and I have to push the sleep button to get it to be detected again.
Long pressing the power button results in the same story.
The device won't ever be detected again once it disconnects itself.

The device has been left charging for 3 or 4 days in a row.
What could the problem be?

I am considering buying a unit with a broken screen and have mine installed on it. Can the PW1 screen function with a PW2 mobo?

Mixing and matching different hardware models is a BAD idea.

And IIRC the PW1 ==> PW2 switched processors and knc1-knows-what-else.
