Oy, I've had a frustrating day. Ran into a book that absolutely refused to download as AZW3 after converting to dual-mobi and Send-to-Kindle. I tried all the ideas suggested in this thread, including converting mobi>epub>mobi and using Kindlegen.
Also, if I simply copy the dual-mobi directly to my Kindle, it will open the AZW3 part. But there's something Amazon doesn't like about it so that when it goes through Send-To-Kindle the AZW3 part fails ![]() |

When you converted via kindlegen how did you do it?
My process is: In calibre run edit book and fix any errors found. Save epub and run flightcrew epub checker. Fix any errors found. Save book as epub in kindlegen folder then turn it into a mobi. Import into calibre and directly send to kindle (dont re-convert or anything you dont need to). This is my last resort and has never failed me so far. |

- edit epub and fix errors (I use an html editor, not Calibre, but that shouldn't make a difference) - validate epub - convert with Kindlegen via command line - send to kindle via email I will experiment with Kindlegen more, but I really wish we could figure out what causes send-to-kindle to reject the azw3 portion of these files. |

Success! I had made stupid mistake. Once corrected, the book converted successfully with Kindlegen. Thank you oblox for encouraging me to keep trying!

Oh, fine, eschwartz, force me to reveal my stupidity
![]() It converted correctly the first time in that my Kindle did receive an AZW3, but the epub was missing <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> (even though it validated) so the quote marks and apostrophes, etc. came out wonky, plus I had forgotten to add some custom css, so when I saw it, I mistook it for mobi ![]() Still wish I could figure out why the Calibre dual-mobi doesn't work, though. |
