I don't think I'll ever get that far, but I would like to reduce my purchased TBR to around 50 books or so. Only 700 to go!

I used to (before ebooks), but that was only because I wanted to ensure that I was never out of reading material. Since the immediacy of ebooks has all but eliminated the possibilty of me ever being caught with no book to read, my TBR pile has become entirely virtual.

So when I finish one book, I browse my TBR/wishlist to decide what I want read next. If the price isn't ludicrous, I buy it and read it. A pile of pre-purchased books that I may never get to (or may no longer be interested in by the time I get around to them) just doesn't make sense to me any more. I gobbled up sale ebooks for a quite a while when they first came out--I've since deleted most of them.

I have more than enough in my virtual TBR to last me a lifetime as well. If I ever find that my reading habits are putting a strain on my finances, perhaps I'll resort to bargain hunting. But as I'm fairly frugal in every other aspect of my life, I don't think I'll have to worry about it.
For some reason e-books have had the opposite effect on me. When I was reading p-books, I found that the more book I bought at the same time, the more risk there was of them sitting unread. It's also true with e-book, but I can't see them glaring at me from the bookshelves, so it's easier just to forget about them. Plus it's much easier and quicker to buy e-books than p-books. So I'm starting to build up a bought TBR list. I have to start restraining myself!

I think it's time to mention the Ebook Buying Addicts' Support Thread again.

Nope. Same arguments as have been there for the last 5 years. Still believe ebooks should cost significantly less than pbooks (and by that I mean INCLUDING the mass-market paperbacks). I've raised my limit from $3.99 to $4.99 over time, but I still won't pay $10 at Amazon OR B&N. Actually, even though I always check both, I haven't found a single ebook that was LESS at B&N than at Amazon in at LEAST 3 years when I was looking to buy.
